Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 185

When Sean stepped out of the airport terminal, a black MPV was waiting by the curb.

He got in first, and the men behind him filed in without saying a single word.

He was back. The days he had spent abroad had been nothing short of a living nightmare.

His financial support had been cut off, and everyone he knew had completely avoided him. After his fall from grace, he tasted the cruelty of human nature firsthand, but he would never admit defeat.

Since Christian had taken everything from him, he would make sure to claim it all back with interest!

As for Annie, he figured that she must be with Christian right now.

A cold glint flashed in Sean's eyes. He would never allow it. Annie could only belong to him!

After the car sped through the streets of Jynston and finally stopped outside the Frost residence, Sean stared at the familiar building, his eyes flashing with complex emotions.

He pushed the car door open and strode toward the main gates with the black-clad men following behind him.

Lights in the villa flicked on almost immediately.

Wrapped in a robe, Helena yanked the door open, impatience written across her face. "Who is it this late at night—"

Her words cut off the moment she saw the scene outside the door.

A group of savage-looking men stood at the door. Although the man leading the group was disguised in a baseball cap and mask, she was all too familiar with his build and eyes.

"S-Sean?" Her voice held a note of uncertainty.

The sight of the men behind Sean, who had trouble written all over them, made her heart jolt. Instinct told her to slam the door, but Sean moved faster.

He jammed his hand against the frame and forced his way inside with the entourage in tow.

Terrified by the scene, Helena scrambled back and stared at him in shock. "What are you doing, Sean? A-Aren't you supposed to be abroad? Why are you back all of a sudden, and w-who are they?"

Sean removed his mask and cap. "Mom."

Helena felt her stomach drop at the sight of him this way, knowing that his return spelled trouble.

She knew Sean too well. As a child, he had always been proud and exceptional. She had never seen him this beaten down and disheveled.

The men behind Sean were clearly from the underworld, and she couldn't help wondering what he'd been involved with overseas.

He said, "Mom, I'm back to reclaim everything that belongs to me."

Helena froze, and Sean continued, enunciating each word, "Frost Group should have been partly mine from the start, and Annie can only be my wife."

Helena sucked in a deep breath. She knew it!

She snapped, "Have you lost your mind? Easton holds all the power now, and Arthur favors him. How can you even fight against him?"

She anxiously stomped her foot. Even if she wanted Sean to make a comeback, now wasn't the moment. She had finally secured her footing in the Frost family, and she wasn't about to be dragged down by Sean's recklessness.

Sean let out a cold laugh, and his eyes were full of mockery.

Helena didn't sleep a wink all night. The next morning, she woke up with heavy dark circles under her eyes.

She changed into a plain outfit and put on tired-looking makeup, crafting the image of a worried, loving mother burdened by concern for her son.

Once everything was ready, she took a deep breath and stepped out of the villa. The driver was waiting outside.

She ordered, "To Easton's place."

As the car drove steadily toward Easton's villa district, her heart pounded the entire way. They finally pulled up half an hour later.

Helena smoothed her clothes, put on her usual gentle smile, and rang the doorbell.

The door was answered by the butler. "Mrs. Frost, what brings you here?"

"I'm here for Easton," Helena softly replied, her voice carrying just the right amount of concern.

"I heard Sean's in trouble overseas, and I've been worried sick. Easton is his older brother, so I came to ask if he's heard anything about it."

Unsuspecting, the butler respectfully welcomed her in.

Easton was in the living room watching financial news. When Helena entered, he merely glanced up at her expressionlessly.

"What's up?"

Used to his indifference, Helena maintained her smile.
