Meanwhile, at Rangvar International Airport, a Gulfstream private jet touched down smoothly, the engines roaring as it rolled to a stop.
The cabin door opened, and Christian stepped down the stairs in a black trench coat.
On the tarmac, a line of armed soldiers stood at attention.
At the front stood a middle-aged man with a general's stars on his shoulder—the commander-in-chief of the Rangvar military region, Kayden Bonner.
The moment Kayden saw Christian, he stepped forward at once and bowed with visible deference. "Mr. Parker, you're here."
Fine sweat beaded at his temples. It was hard to tell whether it came from the heat or the invisible pressure Christian carried.
"As for Dingo's gang..." Kayden's voice sounded tight. "We've narrowed down their base of operations. They've been active around the Trident Corridor.
"Your accommodations have been arranged. It's the safest place in the military district."
Christian didn't respond. He only gave a slight nod and walked straight toward a military SUV parked nearby.
Kayden didn't dare delay. He followed at once, personally shut the door behind him, then climbed into the front passenger seat.
The vehicle started up and drove out of the heavily guarded airport.
Inside the cabin, the air felt suffocating.
Christian pulled a fax sheet from the inner pocket of his coat. It was wrinkled, but the words were bold and sharp.
It read, "If you want your woman back, trade 50% of Parker Group's shares."
Christian held it out to Kayden.
Kayden skimmed it once, his eyes widening in shock. His whole body jerked.
50% of Parker Group? Dingo had to be out of his mind. He was practically begging to be killed.
That was the only reason the country had the stability it had now.
Parker Group was no longer just an investor. It was the artery that kept Rangvar's economy alive.
If Parker Group pulled out, the economy would collapse overnight. Order would disintegrate, and the country would be dragged straight back into the abyss.
Kayden couldn't bear that consequence. None of Rangvar could.
All the color drained from Kayden's face. He shot up from his seat and solemnly vowed to Christian.
"Mr. Parker, I guarantee it! Even if it costs us the entire military district, we'll bring Mrs. Parker back safe and unharmed!"
Christian didn't look at him again. He turned his eyes back to the window. But from an angle no one could see, his hand clenched into a tight fist on his knee.
"Ann, you have to stay safe. Hold on. I'm coming to bring you home," he thought.
