Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 216

When Dingo came to, a stabbing pain drilled through the back of his head. He lifted a hand on instinct, and his fingertips came away slick.

In the dim light, he opened his palm. It was blood.

He had been knocked out by a woman. The humiliation hit like a choke chain.

Dingo braced himself on the edge of the bed and staggered upright. His skull felt like it was splitting, his vision pulsing in and out.

He gripped the doorframe and lurched out into the hall.

The main room was still in chaos—dice clattering, men shouting, bottles crashing, the noise all mashed together into a deafening roar.

"Shut the hell up!"

Everything stopped at once, and every head snapped toward the doorway.

Dingo stood there with one hand clamped over his bleeding head, his face dark with murderous intent.

The men sobered up at once.

"Where is she?" Dingo's gaze cut across the room like a blade.

The underlings exchanged looks, finally catching up.

"Dingo, that woman—"

Before he could finish speaking, Dingo kicked the nearest table over. Glass exploded across the floor.

"Find her! Search every inch of this place! Bring her back to me!"

The men sprang into action, grabbing knives and guns and rushing to seal off every exit.

Alarms and frantic footsteps erupted across the camp.

Annie's heart slammed against her ribs, and cold sweat soaked her back. They had realized that she had escaped.

Dingo was awake.

Mason hauled her along, cutting through narrow paths that twisted like a maze.

If she ran, Mason would be left here alone. And it was only a matter of time before they caught him.

He was trading his life for her escape.

Mason looked as if he had expected her to refuse. His tone sharpened with urgency. "Mrs. Parker, you have to go!"

His voice stayed low, but there was no room for argument. "This isn't just about you. If anything happens to you, the entire country will go up in flames! Go!"

It wasn't a plea—it was an order, backed by the resolve to die for it.

Annie met his bloodshot eyes. She understood that she didn't get to choose.

Mason had made his decision. He shoved her hard, pushing her out of their hiding place.

"Now!"

Annie stumbled forward, then turned back to look at him one last time.

After that, she didn't hesitate. She turned and ran down the dark path Mason had shown her, even as she kept glancing back.
