Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 223

In the past, if Annie felt wronged, she would have vented to Suzanna right away. Could it be that she was too badly frightened this time?

Suzanna simply assumed Annie was worn out from the journey and hadn't recovered. "W-Well, hurry upstairs and take a rest. You look exhausted."

Once they returned to the apartment, Annie headed straight for the master bedroom without hesitation. "I'm tired. I'm going to sleep now."

The door closed, and with a click, the lock slid into place. The tension in the living room was palpable.

Suzanna froze on the spot, worry and confusion etched across her face. She suddenly turned, grabbed Christian by the arm, and dragged him into the kitchen.

Lowering her voice, she asked nervously, "Uncle Christian, did Annie find out who you really are?"

Christian lowered his gaze and slowly shook his head. Suzanna let out a long breath, visibly relaxing. Thank goodness it wasn't the worst-case scenario. But then again, something felt off.

"Annie hates being lied to the most. Uncle Christian, keeping the truth from her isn't a solution. I think you should find a chance to come clean with her. You're balancing on a knife's edge, risking your marriage every day. I'm anxious for you both."

Christian was silent for a moment, his voice low and hoarse. "I know."

The same answer again. Seeing how stubborn he was, Suzanna felt helpless. She couldn't persuade him, and staying any longer would only add to the awkwardness, so she waved it off.

"Forget it. I won't meddle in your marriage. I'm leaving."

Annie had no way of knowing. She only felt exhausted, a deep fatigue pressing down on her, making it hard for her to breathe. She slowly walked to the bed, lay down, and wrapped herself tightly in the blanket. She told herself to forget it and stop thinking about it. Closing her eyes, she tried to empty her mind.

The next day, Annie woke up before dawn had fully broken. She lay there with her eyes open in the dark for a long time before quietly getting up. After she washed up and changed her clothes quickly, she didn't even bother to stay in the living room for one second. She headed straight for the door and headed out.

The chill morning wind slipped down her collar, clearing her muddled mind. The company felt like a ghost town when she arrived. She sat at her desk and turned on her computer. After the screen booted up, she pulled up the design draft she hadn't finished and tried to immerse herself in work.

Time passed, and Annie's colleagues trickled in one after another. The office gradually came to life. The clacking of keyboards and low conversations blended into a familiar background hum.

Near the pantry, a few designers were speaking in hushed, excited tones. "Have you heard? The Frost family is in serious trouble!"
