Sierra narrowed her eyes.

How did he know?

“John set the two–hundred–thousand trap for me. I didn’t spend that money myself.”

Lucas was seething as he said that. He got angrier every time he thought he would still be stuck washing glasses in two days if he couldn’t get the mess fixed.

“This started because of you! You should be the one to fix it.”

Sierra was about to argue that it had nothing to do with her when a memory flashed through her mind, one from the day she went to the Lakeside Villa to apologize to Pamela.

“Do you have any idea how many problems I’ve been fixing for you these past few days? Why do you think Lucas and those men from the private room haven’t come looking for you again?”

Had John kept Lucas there by putting that debt on him?

“You don’t want me hanging around your place every day, do you?” Lucas threatened. “Or do you want me to go to your company to make a scene?”

Sierra’s chest tightened.

If Lucas camped out at her home or started trouble at the office, there was nothing she could do. The police wouldn’t step into something like that.

“I’m going to talk to my grandson,” Lucas said as he got up from the sofa. Every action and word from him was threatening. ” Take your time. If you don’t call, I won’t force you. I’ll just stay in your apartment for a while.”

“Wait.” Sierra walked over and blocked his way.

“Made up your mind?” Lucas asked.

“I’ll call John.” Sierra didn’t want him bothering Tommy. “But I can’t promise he’ll agree to it.”

“I want that contract voided, not some useless talking.” Impatience and malice were written all over Lucas’s face.

Sierra didn’t answer and simply called John.

Some things would catch up with her eventually. After more than twenty years of easy days, having a string of bad luck in the short while was nothing strange.

The line connected. A few seconds later, John picked up. “What is it?”

“Did my father run up a debt of more than two hundred thousand at Kenneth’s bar?” Sterra skipped any greeting and went straight in.

John’s brows drew together. Thinking of Kenneth’s earlier call, he asked, “Is he at your place?”

“Yes,” Sierra replied.

John’s eyes went dark.

How did Lucas find her?

“He said this all happened because of me,” Sierra said bluntly. “If that’s true, can you let it go and break his contract with the bar?”

“Got it,” Sierra said calmly.

She hung up with no warning at all.

John’s brows furrowed slightly the moment the call ended, almost impossible to see.

Pamela was watching television as she sat beside him on the sofa. She noticed the change in his mood and instinctively leaned a little closer. “Did something happen?”

“Lucas went to see Sierra,” John said.

Pamela blinked, confused. “What?”
