Chapter 107
“We don’t have one million in cash right now. Can we pay you in installments?” Nicholas asked Lucas with a perfectly sincere expression.
Lucas straightened his back. “Of course.”
“Then, during this time, can you stop bothering Sierra? Don’t come here to disturb her, and don’t make a scene at her company. Let her live in peace for a while,” Nicholas went on.
Lucas was full of smug satisfaction. It never crossed his mind to wonder how Nicholas, who had just arrived, knew about him wanting to kick up a storm at Origin Games.
“Fine,” Lucas said condescendingly, as though he was doing someone a favor.
Nicholas smiled. “Thank you.”
“When will the money be in my account?” Lucas relaxed a little as he thought about not having to wash glasses anymore. “I
need it soon.”
“Anytime.” Nicholas finally dropped his act. “I’m only wondering how much you want, because the amount will decide what sentence you get.”
Lucas froze. “What sentence?”
“Extortion,” Nicholas said, spreading his hands and looking as innocent as possible. “You’re threatening to cause problems at Sierra’s house and her company if we don’t pay you.”
“This is my daughter’s apartment!” Lucas’s anger flared again as he started yelling. “I can do what I like here! It’s not your place as an outsider to tell me what to do!”
“This isn’t just Sierra’s home,” Nicholas lied smoothly. “The rest of us rented this place with her. When you come to make a scene, you disturb us, too.”
Lucas looked around the room. Apart from Sierra and Tommy’s belongings, there was no indication that a third person owned anything here.
“Do you want to see the lease? I can have someone bring it over,” Nicholas added, sounding like it was real.
Lucas glared at Sierra, his expression dark.
She met his gaze head–on, neither dodging nor avoiding him.
“Very well,” Lucas said as he gritted his teeth. “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll kill you if you force me into a corner?”
“If you really had that kind of nerve, you wouldn’t be here looking for her,” Holly finally said. “You’re used to living a pampered life. You won’t choose something that will end you.”
Lucas might lose his temper and go mad, but he wouldn’t dare to actually commit murder. Even at his lowest point, after living well for twenty to thirty years, he knew that he could return to that life if he climbed back up again.
And that was exactly what he had in mind.
“Go,” Sierra said. Her love for him was completely depleted. “Stop making a scene for everyone to see.”
If he had treated her and her mother kindly, the way he once did, she would have done anything to help him raise the money.
But he had run off with their savings, cheated her out of her apartment and deposits, and even forced her to entertain clients.
Any remaining affection she had for him had been used up.
Lucas clenched his hands so tightly his knuckles turned white. The helpless feeling of being unable to threaten Sierra surged up

again. In the end, all of his emotions transformed into one sentence.
“Don’t you want to know why I abandoned you and your mother?”
Sierra said nothing.
The answer was simple: he didn’t love them.
“From the time the company went under to the time your mother had her accident, did she ever curse me in front of you even once?” Lucas asked slowly. “Did she ever do anything but tell you not to take it to heart?”
