After that little episode, Sierra focused on her work. Once she concentrated, she would forget anything unhappy for a while. She only snapped out of it when Jenny told her it was lunchtime.

“Let’s go.” Jenny’s voice was calm.

Her outfit was always made from the simplest colors and style. She herself was as simple and minimalistic as her name.

Sierra was stunned for a moment.

Jenny then casually said, “Let’s grab lunch. I want to talk to you about something.”

Sierra agreed and followed Jenny. She was used to eating alone after finishing her tasks, so having someone with her felt a little

unfamiliar.

They went to a small place across the street from the company and sat facing each other before ordering something.

“You don’t get along with Ms. Sanders?” Jenny asked bluntly.

Sierra did not hide it. “No.”

Jenny poured Sierra a cup of tea and passed it over. “Ms. Sanders is now Mr. Henderson’s secretary. All of our work has to go through her. Don’t make it too obvious unless you have no choice.”

Sierra fell silent.

She couldn’t stomach it.

Everything that had happened back in college, plus what Pamela was doing now, only made her hate her more and more. She hated Pamela so much that just being in the same room felt unbearable.

If it weren’t for the huge penalty for quitting, she would have run already.

“On top of that, she gets along very well with everyone else in the department. If you go after her too hard, people who don’t know the truth will only think you’re difficult to work with.” Jenny kept explaining.

Sierra looked gentle on the surface, but she never cared about how others saw her. “It doesn’t matter.”

Jenny lifted her brow slightly.

Sierra felt at a loss when Jenny looked at her like that. “What is it?”

“You haven’t really worked in an office environment before, have you?”

Jenny had had this feeling from the first day she met Sierra. Now, she was sure.

Sierra hesitated, then nodded. “No.”

Jenny talked her through it slowly.

“For some positions, it really doesn’t matter if you can’t stand someone and you want to clash openly. However, for our positions, we need to communicate all the time. If things between the teams get tense, it’ll only make everything harder for us. The pressure that will be piled on you will grow as well.”

Sierra lowered her eyes. She hadn’t thought that far.

All she knew was that Pamela had come on purpose to get under her skin. Sierra didn’t want Pamela’s things. She didn’t want any contact with Pamela at all.

“Thanks, Jenny.” Sierra took in everything she had said.
