Chapter 121
When Sierra’s reaction didn’t match Pamela’s expectations, Pamela went to see John and told him what she had noticed.
“John, have you noticed Sierra has changed a lot lately?”
“What about her?” John asked coolly.
Pamela went over everything that had happened that day, leaving out anything that made her look bad and putting the focus on Sierra instead. “She’s a lot steadier than before. She doesn’t do whatever she wants anymore as she used to.”
The first time Pamela met Sierra in their dorm, she had been drawn in by that very side of Sierra, the way Sierra had the courage
to say no.
At that time, everyone was talking about going out together over the weekend to bond a little. The other two girls didn’t want to go, but they didn’t know how to refuse, so they just said they were fine with anything.
Only Sierra said directly that she had plans and couldn’t make it.
Later on, the dorm had plenty of other activities, but Sierra never joined any of the group events.
Pamela had thought that acting like that would definitely get Sierra pushed out by the others. Instead, every time Sierra turned something down, she would make it up to them with gifts.
Sometimes, it was a full set of skincare products for everyone. Sometimes it was makeup. Sometimes, it was exactly what each girl happened to be missing at the moment.
Because of that, everyone treated Sierra really well and didn’t mind that she never joined the group activities.
After a while, the other girls even started calling her “princess” as a joke.
About a year later, the dorm held a small internal meeting.
By then, their relationships were more or less worked out, and the leader of the dorm suggested everyone take turns sharing their thoughts, pointing out each other’s pros and cons so they could get along better for the next three years.
The dorm leader went first and mentioned a few minor flaws for each person. The others didn’t want to offend anyone, so they only brought up harmless little things.
Only Sierra was different. She seriously went through everyone’s shortcomings and strengths.
At the time, Pamela thought Sierra was stupid. She was sure Sierra would offend the whole dorm.
But Pamela was wrong. No one got angry, and they all ended up having a real discussion about self–improvement.
Pamela couldn’t understand it.
Was it because Sierra was always so generous with them? Or were they just afraid of crossing her?
In reality, the reason no one got upset that day was that Sierra always started by listing her own flaws first. When it came to the others, she only pointed things out lightly.
Any time she mentioned a weakness, she would follow it with a greater strength. On top of that, she would automatically help explain why that weakness might exist in the first place, making it easier to accept.
At the end, she would sum it all up and insist that her own problems were much worse than any of theirs.
It was her rhetorical skill, but it was also proof that she honestly wanted her dorm mates to become better versions of themselves.
Outside of people she treated as real friends, she acted exactly how Pamela described her. She would do things her own way without a care.

At least before Jenny spoke to her.
“It means she’s growing,” John said indifferently.
Pamela followed his lead and said, “That’s true. If this goes on, she’ll become someone who keeps her emotions from showing everywhere. She’ll do very well in the workplace. But…”
John’s tone stayed flat. “But what?”
“But over time, she’ll become very hard to read.” Pamela decided to take a risk. “Even you might not be able to figure out what she’s thinking anymore.”
