Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 133

Chapter 133

When Sierra arrived at the office the next day, she shared her idea with her department. She told them she needed four more people besides herself and passed around the script she had written.

Just as she had expected, four volunteers quickly stepped forward. Jenny turned in the form for the event they were going to perform.

Once the small side tasks were taken care of, Sierra settled into her regular work routine.

Halfway through, she went to the restroom. On her way out, she ran into Cindy just as she was washing her hands.

Sierra,Cindy greeted her.

Sierra nodded in response.

Cindy moved a little closer, watching Sierra in the mirror as she said in a gossipy tone, I had some very good tea yesterday.

Sierra took her seriously and missed her meaning. Does it taste good?

Not that kind of tea,Cindy said as she realized Sierra had misunderstood her. She glanced around to make sure no one was nearby, then lowered her voice. It’s about Pamela, the new secretary.

Sierra paused.

Her guard went up right in that instance.

Holly had warned her before. Anyone who tries to use someone else’s secret to make friends should be scrutinized carefully.

Do you know what kind of relationship she has with Mr. Henderson?Cindy whispered.

Sierra pulled a paper towel and answered casually as she wiped her hands, Everyone in the department knows their relationship.

I mean their private relationship.Cindy quietly blocked her way.

I don’t,Sierra said as she left before Cindy could say anything else. When she got back to her desk, she focused on her work as if nothing had happened.

Cindy tried to bring up the gossip again several times during the day, but Sierra brushed her off every time by saying she was busy. Cindy could feel that Sierra wanted some distance.

At lunchtime, Cindy deliberately waited a bit before going for lunch, just so she could have a chance to talk more with Sierra. Sierra, did I do something that upset you?

Huh?Sierra looked genuinely confused.

You barely responded to me today,Cindy said, sounding a little awkward. I can be careless with my words sometimes. It I accidentally said something that bothered you, please don’t take it too seriously.

In the past, Sierra wouldn’t have bothered responding to something that sounded this unpleasant. Now that she was in the workplace, she couldn’t afford to be stubborn.

She pursed her lips. What she finally said was very different from how she would have reacted before.

You’re talking about earlier.

Cindy nodded. Yeah.

You kept trying to gossip with me about that someone,Sierra said, deliberately leaving out the name. But this is the office. People are always coming and going. You never know who might overhear.

Then let’s talk after work!Cindy said, changing her tune immediately.

Alright,Sierra answered offhandedly. If I have time, we’ll talk.

Cindy nodded. Alright.

Sierra nodded and headed to the hospital.

What she didn’t know was that just after she left, Pamela walked out of the conference room right next to them.
