Overwhelmed by John’s presence, everyone left the conference room without lingering any longer.

In just a short while, only John, Sierra, and Pamela were left.

Sierra remained frozen in the posture of someone about to leave. When she looked at him, her face carried no trace of the old attachment, none of the anger from these past days. Only a calm indifference, as if she and John were nothing more than

strangers.

John understood that look. His chest tightened in pain.

“Maybe I should step out?” Pamela asked tactfully.

John said, “No.”

Pamela stepped back a couple of paces, trying to make herself smaller and give them space. “Then take your time.”

“On Monday and Tuesday, you’ll be staying at the villa. I’ll have Grant pick Tommy up,” John said, meeting Sierra’s gaze. His tone made it sound more like a decision than a discussion. “You can pick him up after work on Thursday.”

“It’s fine. I’ll make time to go back and pick him up,” Sierra refused without even thinking.

“I’m not asking for your opinion.” His eyes pressed down on her with pressure.

Sierra was about to speak, but John cut her off before she could, his tone icy. “If you refuse, I can tear up the divorce agreement. You won’t be able to get custody.”

Sierra’s head snapped up. She clearly didn’t expect him to go back on his word.

“You should just listen to John,” Pamela cut in. “If Tommy goes back to Campanile Estate, you can relax and enjoy the events at the villa without worrying about his safety or what he’s eating.”

The moment Pamela brought that up, Sierra only got angrier. She stared straight at John and said, “You arranged the team building and the dinner on purpose.”

“In what role are you asking me about that?” His dark eyes were unreadable, his voice low and unhurried. “As an employee? A stranger? Or my ex–wife?”

Sierra’s hand tightened suddenly around her notebook.

“If there’s nothing else, you can go,” John said coolly. “Grant will pick Tommy up first thing Monday,”

Sierra knew that whatever she said would be denied, so she didn’t bother arguing. She left the conference room without a word, her notebook and pen in hand.

When she gave it a proper thought, it was only for a few days. Grant had always treated Tommy very well. Even if Tommy stayed over there for a few days, he should be fine. It was his grandparents she was worried about.

“Tommy will only interact with the staff at Campanile Estate.‘

As Sierra stepped through the doorway, John added one more line. It was as it he couldn’t stand the way she looked when she

left.

“They won’t see him,” he went on.

Sierra’s steps faltered, then she walked away faster.

By the time she got back to her desk, she had already calmed down.

Cindy immediately rushed over the moment she sat down, eager for some gossip. “What did Mr. Henderson want with you?”
