Chapter 145
“You already knew the answer from the very beginning, didn’t you?” Pamela’s friend said, emotion gleaming in her eyes as she looked at Pamela.
Pamela watched John and Sierra walking ahead, each holding one of Tommy’s hands. The madness and jealousy in her eyes hit a peak.
“I won’t accept it.”
“What are you going to do?” Nora Lawson asked.
Pamela clenched her hands. “I’m going to make him accompany me.”
Even though John had already made everything clear… Even though she had given up at that moment…
Pamela still couldn’t swallow it.
Why could Sierra have his true heart and love? She, the one who had saved his life, couldn’t get even a trace of real affection.
What made her worse than Sierra?
“Don’t do anything stupid,” Nora tried to persuade Pamela. “He already spelled it out so clearly for you last night because he wanted you to know where the line was. If you bother him when he’s with his son, he’ll get angry.”
Pamela knew very well John would be angry.
But even if he was, he wouldn’t show it too openly if something happened to her.
Tommy had no idea his worry from earlier had really come true. At the water park area of the amusement park, he pointed at a wild and exciting ride and tilted his face up to John.
“Dad, I want to play this one!”
John’s hands tightened a little at his sides. A faint, hard–to–read emotion flashed deep in his eyes.
Sierra noticed. She crouched down and said to Tommy, “Mom will go with you, alright? Dad’s shoes aren’t right for going in the water.”
John was afraid of water, and she knew that. If it were any deeper than his thighs, he wouldn’t go in. He rejected it with all his being.
“Okay,” Tommy agreed. He had a vague idea about it, actually.
The tension in John’s chest eased a little. He was just about to remind them to be careful when the phone in his pocket rang
It was a call from Pamela.
Sierra and Tommy both stopped and looked at him. John hung up at once.
Before he could put the phone away, it rang again. He had already said he would spend today with Tommy, but Pamela called again right after he refused her call. What was she thinking?
“Dad, who’s calling?” Tommy asked.
John didn’t answer directly. He didn’t want to affect Tommy’s mood. “A friend.”

“Then why don’t you answer it?” Tommy asked.
John hesitated for a moment, then picked it up. “Did I not say today…‘
“Mr. Henderson, I’m Pamela’s friend.” The voice on the line wasn’t Pamela’s, but someone else. “Pamela got in a car accident. She’s in the hospital now, and things aren’t looking very good.”
John’s eyes darkened little by little. “Which hospital?”
Nora quickly replied, “Jade City Central Hospital.”
“Got it.” John ended the call.
Sierra and Tommy had heard the voice on the phone, and exchanged a look.
Sierra regretted staying there and waiting for Tommy to ask the question. She only told John to put their things in a locker, then took Tommy’s hand and headed toward the water.
“Come on, I’ll take you into the water.”
