At this time, John had already regained his usual composure. If not for the sweat still on his forehead, it would have been easy to think that everything Sierra had seen was just from his imagination.
“This is my home.” Sierra saw that he was awake and spoke directly. “You tell me why I wouldn’t be back.”
“Yeah,” John’answered faintly.
Sierra blinked.
That was all?
John clearly had no intention of talking to her. He closed his eyes again, ready to go back to sleep.
Sierra lifted the blanket, reaching in to pull him up. Before her fingers could touch his shirt, his hand caught her wrist first and pulled. Sierra lost her balance and fell forward onto the bed.
The next moment, John’s arm tightened and pulled her straight into his arms.
The whole thing happened so fast, it was over in less than a few seconds. It was so quick that before Sierra could even react, she was already lying there with him, trapped against his chest.
“What are you doing?” Sierra was back in the same familiar situation of not being able to push him away or get
free.
“Either let me hold you while I sleep for a bit,” John murmured with his low and warm voice brushing at her ear, ” or we do something fist, then I sleep.”
Sierra tried to turn and hit him, but his grip locked her in place, and she couldn’t move at all.
“Tommy is still next door,” John added, going straight for her weak spot. “If you want him to come over and see something he shouldn’t, then go ahead and struggle.”
You got anything else up your sleeve besides threatening me?” Sierra said in a cold tone.
“What do you think?” John replied.
Sierra fell silent.
She knew nothing good would come out of his mouth.
“I won’t keep you long, just a little while,” John said, pulling her closer against his chest. The warmth of her body and her familiar scent calmed the restlessness inside him.
He had known the moment Sierra and Tommy opened the door and came in. Half–asleep, he had wondered why Robin hadn’t warned him as he drifted in and out of a dream.
He had only fully woken up when Sierra reached the side of the bed. He had already decided that if she ordered him out right away, he wouldn’t make a fuss.
But she had started to call his name and then stopped.
Since she had hesitated, he had simply followed through on what he wanted.
“Your apartment is right next door.” Sierra twisted a little, but she could not break free, so the only thing she could do was try to reason with him. “Go sleep there.”

What answered her was the sound of John’s slow, even breathing.
She turned her neck to look at him and saw that his eyes were closed again. He was already asleep.
How tired did he have to be to crash out like that in an instant?
