The Bell family went bankrupt, and John divorced Sierra.

Sierra went from the wife of a wealthy family to a lowly wage slave. She had gone from a life of comfort, where luxury items came easily, to living on a fixed paycheck.

With a drop like that, how could she still live with such determination?

“Well?” Sierra asked when Wendy was quiet for a long time.

Wendy would be lying if she said she felt nothing.

Wendy raised her phone and aimed it at her. “Fine, I agree. But you have to let me take a few photos. If you ever spill my secrets, I’ll post these miserable pictures of you everywhere.”

“Alright.” Sierra agreed without hesitation. She even lifted her hand in a peace sign.

Wendy fell silent. She pushed Sierra’s hand back down and snapped several photos in a row.

“You’re so cooperative… Aren’t you worried I’ll share these immediately?” Wendy asked. She didn’t understand Sierra anymore.

“I’m not. They’re just a few photos. Post them if you want,” Sierra said. Her words struck Wendy right at the heart and moved her. “Even if you add some captions and say whatever you want, I believe you have your reasons.”

“You’re crazy!” Wendy couldn’t handle this anymore and walked out after yelling at Sierra.

Wendy had to admit it, though. Sierra’s words had moved her long, numbing heart. She could feel something warm and fuzzy inside, and it was starting to beat again.

Once Sierra saw that Wendy wasn’t going to keep this up, she let out a small sigh. She knew she had probably passed Wendy’s test.

The real trouble lay with the other two nepo babies. They were the ones truly vicious and difficult to deal with.

If sneaking out halfway through the anniversary wouldn’t get her marked down and targeted by the managers, she would have run already.

Wendy suddenly stopped and turned to look at her. “Sierra.”

Sierra froze. When she looked up, her dark eyes were still a little blank. “Yeah?”

“Adam and Liam are here, too.” Wendy knew Sierra already understood what she meant, but she still couldn’t help reminding Sierra. “They won’t go easy on you like me. Keep out of their sight.”

“Thanks,” Sierra said sincerely.

“This is so stupid…” Wendy said to Sierra before leaving without another word.

However, the second she walked out of the restroom, Wendy’s worried expression instantly became a composed

one.

The others saw her and walked over with teasing smiles. “How did it go?”

“I soaked her with water,” Wendy said with a faint smile on her lips. “She looks as miserable as she can be.”

“Where’s she?” Liam asked.

“She was still in the restroom when I came out. Not sure about now, though,” Wendy answered casually, her pale skin bright under the lights. “You two are still planning to go?”

“Don’t worry about it,” Adam said as he exchanged a look with Liam, the smiles on their faces almost impossible to hide. “We’re going to talk to Morgan about something. Are you leaving first, or are you going to wait for us?”

Wendy didn’t believe for a second that they had anything serious to discuss with Morgan, but she didn’t call them out. “We’ll see.”

All of their discussion fell into Kenneth’s ears. He moved from spot to spot along the second floor, watching everything below and switching through the security camera.

Just as he was thinking about who he could send to get Adam and Liam out of the way, he saw Sierra on one of the monitors. Her clothes and hair were soaked through’as she walked down the hallway, looking as haggard as possible.

Kenneth’s composure almost cracked.

He took a screenshot of the feed and sent it to John.

He added a message. “Wendy cornered Sierra in the restroom and did this to her. Are you going to step in or what?”
