“Ms. Bell went to see Solomon at the hospital this afternoon,” Robin reported. “They talked for more than ten minutes.”

John looked up. “Do you know what they talked about?”

“No. There’s no security camera in the room,” Robin answered.

John rolled the fountain pen between his fingers. After a long time, he said, “Keep watching them. Tell me earlier next time.”

“Got it,” Robin said.

After he hung up, John toyed with his phone for a while before sending Kenneth a message.

[Have you finished the investigation into Sierra’s mother?]

Kenneth replied, [Nope, not a single lead.]

[Get her back here to check.]

Kenneth responded in three quick messages.

[You finally came around?!]

[I’ll message her in a bit.]

A flicker of emotion crossed John’s dark eyes. He didn’t want to get that person back at all if it wasn’t absolutely necessary.

Not long after that, an unknown number called his phone. He did not hang up and picked it up instead.

“I heard from Kenneth that you want me back to do some digging for you?” A lazy woman’s voice came through the line, laced with a hint of malicious pleasure.

“Yes,” John said.

The woman asked, “You’re sure?”

John didn’t hesitate. “I am.”

The woman hung up cleanly without waiting to see if John had anything else to say.

John pressed his fingers against his brow, forcing his feelings down. With no cameras in that room, the only way to find out what Sierra and Solomon had talked about was through this woman’s hacking skills.

With Solomon’s bodyguards posted right outside his doors, there was no way to eavesdrop.

Sierra had no idea John was keeping such a close eye on Solomon.

Meanwhile, no one had responded to her post about the dishwasher voucher. Just as she was about to delete it and redeem the prize instead, someone walked over.

“Sierra,” Randy said as he stopped in front of her desk.

Sierra paused her work. “Yeah?”

“I saw your post about the dishwasher voucher,” he said, sounding a little hesitant. When he saw no one was paying attention to them, he lowered his voice. “Can you sell it to me?”
