“Keeping it just reminds me of all the ways he used to spoil me,” Sierra said earnestly.
After being loved so intensely for so many years, it was impossible to forget everything in just a few days.
Since they were kids, his love for her has always been incredibly thoughtful.
Holly couldn’t argue with that. Before the whole Pamela incident, she had never seen a man better than John. Not in real life, not on TV, not even in books. He brought Sierra everything good in life and took care of everything for her himself.
When people said Sierra didn’t deserve him, he would shut them up first and then tell them calmly, “She deserves every bit of what I give her.”
For years, everyone in their circle had said that no one could believe the ruthless, decisive John Henderson was actually a hopeless romantic.
A hopeless romantic.
Sierra used to believe it, too. (1
But people change. Even the most perfect man couldn’t resist temptation in the end.
“Do you know anyone reliable?” Sierra asked. 1
“I do, but when John bought that diamond, everyone knew about it,” Holly said honestly. “You need to be prepared that no one will dare take it. And even if they do, you won’t get much for it.”
“I know.” Sierra had already thought about this. “As long as it’s over a hundred thousand dollars, I’m fine with it.”
Holly was speechless.
She sighed. “I know I called John a scumbag, but you wanting to sell something worth ten million for a fraction of the price makes me want to call you a fool.” 1
Sierra pressed her lips together, not knowing what to say. From a pure value standpoint, she was indeed foolish.
But with her mother’s surgery coming on, she would even take five hundred thousand dollars as long as she could sell it quickly.
“I know two collectors. I’ll check with them for you,” Holly said. “If it works out, I’ll let you know.”
Sierra thanked her.
They chatted for a bit, then Holly went to her room and came back with a bank card. “There’s over six hundred thousand dollars in the account linked to this card. Even if you won’t admit you’re in trouble, there’s no way I won’t help as your friend.”
“I really don’t have any trouble. I just want to recycle some trash,” Sierra refused.
“Oh, please, I know you too well.” Holly shoved the card into Sierra’s purse. When Sierra tried to give it back, Holly threatened Sierra instead. “If you try to return it, we’re done.”
Sierra’s hand froze, not knowing what to do.
“Just keep it in case of an emergency. The password is the last six digits on the card,” Holly said, clearly not buying her excuses.
To Sierra, the card felt heavy. “Holly…”
“Just be ready that you might not be able to sell the ring,” Holly warned. “You know what John’s like. If he finds out you’re selling it, think about what’ll happen.”
Sierra knew all of this, but she couldn’t worry about it anymore.

Chapter 23
“I really can’t take your card,” she insisted, handing it back. “If I really hit a wall, you’ll be the first person I ask.”
Holly stared at her, then her eyes landed on a mark on Sierra’s neck.
Sierra felt a sudden jolt of guilt. “What is it?”
