Chapter 231
John was calm. So calm that even after Pamela asked that question, there wasn’t a flicker of emotion on his face.
That reaction was enough to terrify Pamela.
“As long as I haven’t committed a capital crime, the only person who gets to decide my life is me,” John said, his voice low.” Even if you saved me back then, you still don’t have that right.”
Pamela’s fingers curled tighter. She felt as though a boulder was slowly crushing her chest. She found John’s line of thought terrifyingly rational, almost like a madman.
“Anything else?” John asked.
“No.” That one simple word was enough to drain the strength out of Pamela. “You can go.”
John nodded and gave her a simple hum before leaving.
Pamela watched him walk away. Her heart should have been dead by now, but her love only twisted into something more obsessive.
A voice kept looping in her mind.
‘What Sierra can have, you have it too. He just doesn’t love you because he met Sierra first. If Sierra is gone, he’ll finally be able to see you!‘
That had to be it!
All of this was because of Sierra!
If she got rid of Sierra, he would definitely be able to see her!
John went to Maple Residences after leaving the hospital. He stopped by his place first to shower, then changed before going to Sierra’s place. He stood in front of her door and knocked.
The moment Sierra saw him, she tried to shut the door. She was no match for his strength as usual, and he forced it back open.
Only then did she realize how important it was to install a door camera.
“This is breaking and entering,” Sierra said.
John pulled out his phone and held it out to her. “Go ahead. Call the police.”
Sierra had nothing more to say.
That was his go–to move. What other moves could he do?
If it weren’t for Tommy, she would have called the cops without hesitation!
“Yes!” Tommy’s clear voice suddenly rang out. With his watch on his wrist, he walked over and spoke into it. “Mr. Policeman? A man just forced his way into our home. Mommy told him to leave, but he won’t.”
Sierra blinked.
John blinked, too.
Both of them froze for a moment as a voice came through the watch right away. “Are you and your mommy safe right now?”
“We’re safe, but this man has come in several times without our permission, and it has upset my mom and me a lot of times,” Tommy said, calm and matter–of–fact. “I hope you can come and talk to him.”

The officer asked a few more questions, got the address, and ended the call.
Sierra stared for a beat, then said, “Honey, did you just call a real police officer?”
Tommy nodded. “Yeah.”
John fell silent.
What a devoted son.
