Chapter 232
John walked over and stopped right in front of Tom. “Hasn’t your dad ever taught you not to call the cops while the bad guy’s still standing in front of you?”
“No,” Tommy said with a serious expression on his boyish face. “He’s with other women every day. He doesn’t have time for
me.”
John gritted his teeth and reached out to pinch his cheek. “You start lying the second you open your mouth. I don’t remember your mom ever teaching you that.”
Tommy’s brows furrowed together as he closed his eyes. “Ouuuuch!”
“What are you doing?” Sierra grabbed John’s hand and yanked it away.
Feeling her rare and instinctive touch, John’s eyes fell to her slender fingers. The words came out of his mouth before he could stop them.
“I don’t think a victim would just grab the bad guy’s hand like that.“.
Sierra went silent.
Tommy shut up, too.
Tommy didn’t expect him to be in the mood for that, and he couldn’t hold himself back from muttering, “You’re so shameless.”
“If I wasn’t, how do you think you got here?” John said slowly and calmly.
Sierra and Tommy went silent again.
They felt like something was off about John today. They couldn’t put their finger on it, but he was different from before in a way that was hard to name.
“Come with me. I need to grab something.” John took Tommy’s hand and then looked at Sierra. “Give me two minutes with him.

Sierra looked at Tommy, and he gave her an okay sign.
She didn’t stop them, and she just repeated it. “Two minutes.”
“Yeah,” John said as he stood up and led Tommy out.
Tommy followed him through the door and stopped short when he saw how different the place looked inside. He let go of John’s hand and asked as he looked at his father.
“What did you bring me here for?”
John went into the study and came back with a folder. “I’m grabbing the papers that prove my relationship with your mommy. When the police get here, I need to prove who I am.”
Tommy blinked. “Then why’d you take me here?”
“If you come out with me, your mommy won’t shut the door.” John held the folder, then picked up a few shopping bags “I can’t exactly force my way in again after you called the cops.”
“You’re so shameless,” Tommy said flatly.
“Same as you,” John said as he walked out with him.
When John came back carrying the bags and the folder, Sierra frowned. She honestly didn’t know what he was trying to do.
“I promised I’d pay you back for your clothes.” John set the bags on the couch. “old you that at the amusement park.”

Sierra stayed quiet.
It had been days. She couldn’t shake the feeling that he had planned this.
She was about to throw him out when three officers arrived. They confirmed what had been reported first and then asked a few follow–up questions before finally learning John and Sierra were still married and in the divorce’s waiting period.
“Even if you’re still legally married, coming in without her consent during the waiting period still counts as trespassing,” one
officer told him.
“Understood,” John answered politely. “I only came to drop off something I promised her.”
“What did you bring?” the officer asked.
John glanced at the bags by the couch and explained how it started.
After they finished, they only gave John a verbal warning and left since he admitted he was in the wrong and had not caused any
actual loss.
