Chapter 233
John left almost at the same time as the police. When he reached the ground floor, he didn’t drive off. Instead, he sat in his car and stared up at the high–rise where Sierra lived.
A little over ten minutes later, Robin arrived. “Boss.”
“Are the results in?” John asked.
“They are.” Robin handed him a folder. “Multiple agencies confirmed it. Lucas is not Ms. Bell’s biological father. They’re not related by blood.”
John flipped through the pages.
Robin was right. Sierra was not Lucas’s daughter.
“Want me to track down Ms. Bell’s biological father?” Robin asked.
“No need.” John’s voice stayed faint.
Once they had clarified Anna’s situation, information about Sierra’s father would surface on its own.
He paused for a moment, then asked, “When did Anna and Lucas get married?”
“They registered in April. Less than five months after Ms. Bell’s birthday,” Robin said.
That meant Lucas had most likely known Anna was already pregnant.
“I dug a little deeper. On the surface, it looks like they had a kid before they got married. But when you ask the family when they started dating, you get a different answer every time,” Robin added. .
John rubbed the report between his fingers.
Robin continued reporting about what he had found out during this time.
“The Bell Group really was founded by Anna, just like you have guessed, but she only stayed involved for three months. After that, she handed everything over to Lucas.”
“Does she have any shares?” John had never looked that closely at Bell Group.
“None,” Robin said.
John’s eyes darkened. So, what he had overheard last time when Sierra and Lucas were talking was probably true.
Anna and Lucas must have made some kind of deal. She helped him build the company and get it up and running quickly. In return, he agreed to something else. Whether that something was raising Sierra was still unclear.
“Didn’t Anna have a close friend?” John asked, reaching back through his memory.
Robin knew everything in detail. “Yes. Her name is Jubilee. Not long after Anna’s accident, she went overseas and barely came back.”
“Get in touch with her and set up a meeting,” John said, knowing that Jubilee was the key to unlocking more about Anna’s
secrets.
“Alright,” Robin said.
John gave a hum of acknowledgement.
When Jubilee saw Robin’s message, there was some doubt in her. After thinking it over, she called Sterra. “How are things between you and Jolin lately?”

“We’re about to get divorced,” Sierra said.
Just thinking about being divorced on Thursday made her feel lighter already. She wouldn’t have to feel sick every time she pictured him with Pamela, as there would be nothing left between them.
Jubilee glanced at the email again.
