Chapter 246
There was nothing for Sierra to hold on to as the bodyguard’s hand forced her down into the water again.
No leverage.
No way to break free, even when she tried.
“I can do this all day. I have the time,” Danny said, watching Sierra being held under the pond. “Every bodyguard here can swim. If you end up dead, we’ll say you slipped into the pond and drowned.”
Sierra knew he wasn’t joking around.
Everything she had recorded from the moment she was brought in was probably enough to get Danny hauled into the police department for questioning.
The real problem was time.
If she faked it and agreed to sign, would Danny send someone to file the divorce right away? If that happened, undoing it would still be a nightmare even if he got arrested later.
Not to mention, her recording alone wasn’t going to be enough.
If Danny claimed she had secretly recorded everything inside the estate, that would turn into another mess regarding privacy
law.
As she weighed it all in her mind, her head felt lighter by the second due to a lack of oxygen.
“Well? Made up your mind yet?” Danny asked.
The bodyguard dragged Sierra up again. After being forced underwater twice in a row, her lungs could barely catch up. A few more rounds and she would not even have the strength to move.
Before the thought could even finish forming, they shoved her down again.
The bodyguard was too strong.
No matter how hard she fought, it did nothing.
John had finally arrived as he ran all the way in. The moment he saw her pinned underwater again, his eyes went wide. He didn’t hesitate; he tore off his suit jacket and flung it aside before jumping straight into the pond.
Robin’s eyes narrowed. “Boss!”
“John!” Agnes screamed.
Even Danny flinched.
They all knew the same thing.
John had hydrophobia!
He had been since he was a kid. That had never changed.
Lucy stood off to the side with one hand in her pocket and a lollipop in her mouth. She nudged Robin with her elbow and said, ” When Sierra got out of the water, get ready to grab him.”
Robin stared. “What?”
Lucy kept his eyes on John. “He’s running on pure adrenaline right now. He’s scared for Sierra. Once she’s safe, his hydrophobla is going to hit him like a truck.”

Through her fading consciousness, Sierra heard someone shouting John’s name. Then, she was hauled up before she could think what was happening. When fresh air finally hit her lungs, she coughed over and over.
“Are you okay?” John held her, completely soaked through.
Sierra gasped for air, then calmed down a bit. Her arms and legs felt limp from lack of oxygen. “Why are you here?”
Was he not afraid of water?
John looked at her pale face, and something tore through his chest. “Let’s get you up there first.”
Sierra wanted to say she could do it herself, but when she tried to move, she realized she had no more strength left. She simply let him pull her toward the edge as they swam.
The moment John shoved Sierra up onto the bank of the pond, his own legs became heavy. His body started to sink, as if it had completely lost control.
“Boss!” Robin grabbed him fast.
John’s terror of water was genuine.
Now that he knew Sierra was safe, the delayed panic crashed over him. It wrapped around him and dragged him down. He tried to fight it, but he couldn’t find the strength.
Robin managed to pull him up, and he dragged himself little by little out of that terror.
“John!” Agnes screamed as she rushed to the pond, stopping on the marble path. Worry filled her face. “Are you hurt? Are you okay? You know you have hydrophobia! Why did you jump in?”
John stood, with Robin holding him up as he glared at Danny and Agnes. “And you?”
Danny and Agnes both froze, not really sure what he meant by that.
“What?”
John glanced at Sierra, who sat by the pond while Lucy gently wiped the water from her face and hair. His voice came out hoarse.
‘You know how much I care about Sierra. Why would you do this to her?”
