Chapter 252
When Jubilee checked her email, she was sure that there was no new message from John.
Wasn’t this about asking Jubilee to talk Sierra out of the divorce?
“Never mind, we’ll talk when I get back.” Jubilee sent a voice message. She was still busy with work. “I’m wrapping things up over here. Once I’m done, I’ll come back.”
Sierra replied with a simple text. [Alright.]
After sending the text message, she went back to her room and sat on the bed. Her mood was getting unstable.
When Holly arrived, Sierra was still on the bed. She was leaning against the headboard, staring at the buildings outside the window. Her eyes were empty like a broken doll.
“Sierra,” Holly called from the doorway.
She knew Sierra’s password. When no one answered the door, she let herself in.
Sierra turned toward the sound of her voice. When she saw Holly, a flicker of emotion passed through her eyes, and everything she had been forcing down surged back up.
“Come here. Let me give you a hug.” Holly walked over and wrapped her in a hug, and Sierra’s mood instantly became much steadier. “I already know everything… John is such a scumbag. Don’t lose hope. We’ll definitely think of another way.”
“No,” Sierra answered. “I’ve already thought everything through.”
John was too careful about everything he did. There was no way to beat him in court, and she could not outplay himh any other
way either.
“Who says there’s no other way?” Holly had always looked at things differently, more flexibly. “Even if we’re not as good as him at being shameless in life, and we can’t compete with his team of lawyers in court, there is still one path to divorce.”
A flicker of hope lit Sierra’s eyes. “What is it?”
“Becoming a widow!” Holly said.
Sierra became quiet. She knew Holly was joking to cheer her up. Holly didn’t want her to fall into despair because of this. Holly wanted her to remember that life was not only this one problem in front of her.
“I’m serious,” Holly said, uttering each word slowly. “If you ever need it, I can get rid of him for you! That’s my promise to you as your best friend!”
Sierra’s mood eased a little. “If you get rid of him, I’ll never see you again.”
“It’s fine. You should be happy for me. The government will be paying for my food and accommodation,” Holly said.
Sierra hugged her tighter.
It was always like this.
Whenever she was unhappy, Holly did everything she could to cheer her up. Sometimes, she cursed along with her. Sometimes, she used all sorts of silly tricks to make her laugh.
“Did he ask you to come?” Sierra asked.
“Yes,” Holly admitted. “But don’t worry. I came because I wanted to. This has nothing to do with him.”
“You don’t need to answer his calls anymore.” Sierra didn’t want John constantly ordering her friends around. One casual sentence from him could throw Holly’s whole day into chaos.

The two of them talked for a long time, about the past and the present, about their lives and their dreams.
Only after they had finished talking about all those things did they go back over what had happened today.
After hearing the whole story, Holly frowned. “If he said you can ask for any compensation except divorce, then you should tell him to give you billions and never come looking for you again as long as he lives.”
“What he means is that as long as I stay by his side, he’ll give me anything.” Sierra understood exactly what John really meant.
