Chapter 257
She didn’t care about other people’s stares or opinions, but she was desperate to scrub off the identity of being John Henderson’s wife!
She wanted to prove to John that even if she left him, she could still live a very good life.
In their five years of marriage, the only reason she hadn’t earned any money was that he told her he would be the one to make money and support the family while she took care of their son and loved him. It wasn’t because she could not earn anything
herself.
John did not know any of this.
He also didn’t know that the words he had thrown out on purpose to hurt her when she said she wanted a divorce had become the deepest wound in her heart that was also the hardest to heal.
Because he did not know any of that, he still couldn’t understand why she was so emotional right now, even though he loved her
and knew her well.
“I didn’t ruin your job,” he insisted, “and I don’t want to interfere with your work.”
“I’m just an ordinary employee to everyone else,” Sierra said as she met his eyes. “When someone worth billions sends me breakfast, what do you think they’re going to believe?”
“You work hard. The boss appreciates you,” John said calmly.
Sierra opened her mouth, then swallowed the rest of her words.
There was nothing wrong with what he said on the surface, but in most people’s eyes, it would only look like some special relationship or something even worse.
Only a tiny number of people would see it the way he described.
“Don’t do these pointless things anymore. I’m just a regular employee at Origin Games.” Sierra only wanted to do her job well.”
I can’t stand being hit by a flood of gossip, and I don’t want all my hard work to go to waste.”
Without waiting to see how he would react, she turned and walked away.
“Wait,” John called after her.
She held her back to him, her voice distant and cold. “Is there anything else, Mr. Henderson?”
“Go home and make some preparations. You’re going out of town on a business trip for training next Monday,” John said as he picked up a file from the table and handed it to her. “It’ll last a week.”
“Business trip?” Sierra turned back.
She took the file from his hand and skimmed through it until her eyes stopped on a line that read “Game Companies under Henderson Group.”
“You all have solid drawing skills, but there’s still a gap compared to the teams under Henderson Group,” John said. He was doing this for his own reasons, but work was involved, too. “Go learn from them and try to make this game the best it can be.”
Sierra hesitated, her fingers tightening around the file.
John started again. “You probably want the first game you officially worked on to be presented in the best condition, too.”
“Then why not send everyone else as well?” Sierra moved to another question.
“I have to ask you first. If you don’t have time or you don’t want to go, I’ll cancel this plan.” John was blunt. “If you want to go, then I’ll make it official.”

He could increase Origin Games‘ value in other ways. Whether the game turned out perfect or not wasn’t his priority. Even if it fell short, he could still fulfill his agreement with Morgan.
