“That’s where you’re wrong,” the background artist cut in. “Their lawyers would sue anyone who plagiarized or stole their work, and they have a one–hundred–percent win rate so far.”

“Sierra, what’s your relationship with Mr. Henderson anyway? How come you’re the one giving us this notice?” someone asked.

“I saw him bring you breakfast this morning.”

“Does he like you?”

All the gossip that had been suppressed started bubbling up again. Everyone had their own guesses, their eyes full of curiosity whenever they looked at her.

Sierra disliked it, but she could not change how people thought about this.

“Seriously, is romance all you ever think about?” Leona cut in. “If bringing someone breakfast means you like them, then what about people who bring you breakfast every day? And if passing on a notice means you like someone, does it mean that Randy is into you when he gives you your assignment?”

After that little speech, no one had the guts to gossip so openly anymore since they couldn’t win in the debate.

“Randy and Mr. Henderson aren’t the same,” Cindy finally said.

Ever since Sierra overheard Cindy badmouthing her that day, things between them had gotten worse. Cindy had wanted to fix their relationship at first, but Sierra had maintained her distance, so she stopped trying.

“The main thing is, Randy calls us with a different tone when he needs something,” Cindy went on. “Mr. Henderson calls her with such a soft tone. And after everything that has already happened, can you really say his feelings for Sierra are nothing out of the ordinary?”

Leona had never liked Cindy, so the retort came out without hesitation. “And what does that have to do with you? Just a change of intonation is enough to get you this worked up?”

“I’m just stating facts,” Cindy said calmly. “If there’s really nothing going on between her and Mr. Henderson, why doesn’t she just deny it?”

The moment she said that, every eye in the room turned toward Sierra.

Most of them were just bored and nosy, waiting for the drama to unfold. Only a few, like Cludy, were clearly hoping to dig up something ugly to use as gossip to be shared between teatime.

“Sierra,” Jenny said quietly once things had run their course. “Do you want to explain or deny anything?”

“No,” Sierra said with a shrug.

Cindy lifted her hands. “See, even she…”

Sierra finished it for her. “I’m not going to toll in the mud with swine. It’s a waste of time and energy. Not worth it.”

“You…!” Cindy had not expected that. Her face flushed bright red.
