“Walking fast because you feel guilty?” Cindy hurried over and blocked Sierra’s path, sounding completely sure of herself.” Afraid our colleagues at the company will find out what you did?”

Sierra didn’t answer. She ignored Cindy, stepping to the side to go around the latter.

But Cindy stuck to her like glue. Wherever Sierra moved, she moved too. She blocked Sierra’s way repeatedly to the point that Sierra hadn’t managed to take even one step forward after a few minutes.

Tired of the game, Sierra looked straight at her. “Out of my way.”

She looked at Cindy like she was looking at a madwoman. At that moment, she was certain Pamela was using this woman as a

weapon.

“Hurry up!” Cindy pressed.

Sierra unlocked her phone and turned on the camera to start recording. “Say what you just said one more time.”

Cindy frowned at the lens, instinctively annoyed by having it pointed at her. “What are you doing?”

“You just said I sold myself to John Henderson for money, right?” Sierra couldn’t even be bothered to get angry. People like Cindy were getting quite boring for her. “Say it again. If you do, I’ll give you an answer you’ll be very satisfied with.”

“It’s the truth!” As soon as she remembered that all this had come from Pamela, Cindy sounded even more confident. “Your mom needed a huge amount of money for surgery and you couldn’t pay it, so you sold yourself to Mr. Henderson!”

“I must have missed that part in my life,” Sierra said.

“Drop the act!” Cindy disliked her even more with every word. “Ms. Sanders told me herself. She wouldn’t lie.”

“Fine.” Sierra ended the recording, then took out her phone again and called the police.

Cindy stared. “What are you doing?”

“I have no memory at all of what you just described.” Sierra’s voice was calm after she put her phone away. “There were times recently when I was drunk and blacked out. To find out what really happened, I can only ask the police to handle it.”

“Are you crazy?” Cindy couldn’t understand where Sierra’s courage came from.

Sierra didn’t respond and simply walked past Cindy. She went into the building and headed upstairs.

Watching how calm she was, Cindy suddenly felt less certain. Pamela had said Sierra had lost something very precious to get that money from Mr. Henderson. Other than her body, what else could count as precious?

With that question on her mind, Cindy sent Pamela a message while she walked upstairs.

Pamela’s reply was even vaguer. [I can’t tell you that. Mr. Henderson told me not to mention it to anyone.]

Cindy asked, [Was it sleeping with him?]

After sending that, she got no response. Pamela knew that any answer would be bad, so it would be easier to make something up

later.

Back at her desk, Sierra went to Jenny first. “Jenny, the police may come by later to ask me some questions. If you can’t find me, it means I went back to the station with them.”
