“Is that true?” the officer asked Pamela.

Pamela glanced at John and Sierra before she answered. “Yes.”

Cindy was stunned. She had always thought Pamela had deliberately said those things so she would misunderstand that there was something between Sierra and John. But from what Pamela had just said… Did Sierra really have something going on with John?

She had never expected John to confess everything so openly. Wasn’t he supposed to be making things hard for Sierra and forcing her to come back to him after her suffering? Why admit it so easily? Why did he sound so loving?

“Then why did you say things that would make people misunderstand you?” Cindy pressed. “If you hadn’t said those things that led me on, I never would’ve misunderstood Sierra!”

Pamela turned her head slightly. “Are you seriously blaming me for this now?”

Cindy forced the words she wanted to say back inside. Sierra was John’s wife and someone she couldn’t afford to cross. Pamela was Mr. Henderson’s secretary, also someone she couldn’t afford to offend.

“It’s fine. Keep the money and use it for some self–development books,” Sierra said, giving her a look before letting her gaze slide to Pamela.

“Thank you,” Cindy said. She did not dare step out of line this time.

Pamela was far from satisfied with this outcome. Her hands at her sides slowly curled into fists, her fingernails digging into her palms without her even noticing.

Not wanting Sierra’s eyes on her any longer, Cindy looked at Pamela instead. “Ms. Sanders, aren’t you going to apologize to Sierra?”
