“So much for valuing promises you made! Who knows if you really care about them, or if you just like the thrill of keeping a sugar baby on the side,” Pamela blurted out at John, a hint of madness flashing in her eyes.
The driver froze.
First day on the job, and he had already heard something this dramatic. He would go crazy.
John stayed completely calm. His voice was flat.
“Done with the act?”
The pressure in Pamela’s chest nearly burst. She wanted to ask how he managed to stay this calm and rational every second of the day.
“You already spelled everything out. What’s the point now for me to continue with the act?” she said, already fallen into despair. “You keep saying you love Sierra. Do you really love her?”
John didn’t answer.
Pamela wanted him just as miserable as she was. “She wants a divorce, and you won’t let her. That’s your idea of love?”
“Yes,” John said without hesitation.
Pamela let out a short laugh.
If that was love, it was a twisted one!
John knew that even if they divorced, he still would not be able to stop himself from helping Sierra if she ever ran into trouble. But by then, he would also be looking after Pamela.

“I’ll make you take care of me for the rest of your life,” Pamela said, a plan forming in her mind. “As long as I’m around, Sierra will never forgive you. If I’m miserable, the two of you can forget about being happy too!”
If she couldn’t have him, then she would not allow them to get a happy ending either!
Solomon had said once that John cared about promises more than his own life. All she had to do was get rid of the people who knew what happened back then, then make Sierra forget about it completely.
After that, John would support her for the rest of his life. No one would know. No one would ever find out!
The more she thought about it, the more workable it seemed.
“Nice plan,” John said, his lips barely moving as he said those two words.
Pamela frowned.
She had thought he would be furious at how shameless she was being. Instead… He didn’t seem to react much to it at all.
“We’re here.” John glanced at his phone, his tone unhurried. “Robin has already finished with the paperwork for your discharge. Go up, grab your things, and you can head back.”
Pamela had no idea how she got out of the car or how she made it back to Lakeside Villa. She only knew that after John dropped
