Chapter 269
“I lived there with her for a while,” Lucas lied without missing a beat. “Otherwise, how would I even know about the place, or that you could get in?”
Sierra still had doubts.
Lucas pulled the door open completely and urged her. “Hurry up.”
Sierra held out her hand. “Give me my phone first so I can text Jubilee back. She’ll worry because I suddenly hung up on her just
now.”
“You weren’t worried about me when you hung up on me,” Lucas said shamelessly.
Sierra fell silent.
Just as she was about to say something to distract him, the elevator doors slid open. Lucy stepped out in her dark–colored, short- sleeved shirt. Her short, messy hair brushed her forehead, making her look effortlessly handsome.
Noticing Sierra looking over, Lucy smiled and gave her a quick wink.
Lucas followed Sierra’s gaze on instinct.
“If I’m not mistaken, that phone belongs to Sierra,” Lucy said as he casually took the phone from Lucas’s hand and turned it
over twice.
“Give it back!” Lucas reached for it.
The phone was the only leverage he had to make Sierra listen. If it went back to her, there was no way he could force her to open the door. He would lose his chance to get what was inside.
Lucy easily slipped out of reach and placed the phone in Sierra’s hand. “Keep it safe.”
A weight lifted off Sierra’s shoulders. “Thank you.”
Lucas’s face went dark. He was clearly unhappy about Lucy suddenly appearing. “Who are you?”
“Lucy Strange, just an ordinary nobody,” Lucy said as she rested one arm on Sierra’s shoulder in an openly protective stance. “If you have a problem with what I just did, I don’t mind stepping outside with you.”
Lucas’s expression became even darker.
Where on earth did Sierra meet so many lunatics?
“You should go,” Sierra said, making it clear that Lucas was no longer welcome. “I’m not going with you. It’s impossible for anything of yours to be in there.”
“If you refuse, I’ll have someone set it on fire,” Lucas threatened. Now that Sierra had the phone back and no chance to start a recording, he didn’t bother to hold back. “Everything in there will burn.”
“Arson is a crime,” Sierra said, trying to snap him out of it.
“I’ll give you two days to think about it,” Lucas said. He didn’t look like he was joking at all. “If I don’t get the answer I want, you’ll be looking at a pile of ruins.”
A faint gloom and seriousness appeared on Sierra’s face.
Her phone started ringing.
Seeing Jubilee’s name on the screen, Sierra invited Lucy inside and closed the door before answering. “Jubilee?”
“Why did the call cut off all of a sudden?” Jubilee asked.

“My dad grabbed my phone. He wanted to force me to open the place for him,” Sierra said. She didn’t hide anything about what happened. She knew far too little about her mom’s affairs. “He’s already left.”
“Don’t open it for him. Everything in there belongs to your mom,” Jubilee warned. “The inheritance worth billions she left you might be inside.”
Sierra was quiet. If it was really inside, then her mom must have been really gutsy.
Jubilee reminded her a few more times before hanging up.
Sierra poured Lucy a glass of water and thanked her again. “Thanks for earlier. If it weren’t for you, my dad probably would’ve pushed me into going downstairs with him.”
“No need,” Lucy said with a small smile.
“You must have come for something today,” Sierra said.
Sierra hadn’t spent much time with Lucy. There was no way Lucy would come over just to drag her out shopping, like Holly.
“I did,” Lucy answered. She clasped her hands together in front of Sierra. “While I was looking into Pamela, I found out she went to the same university as you. I wanted to ask you about her.”
