Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 302

Chapter 302

I’ll be right there,Sierra said as she straightened her clothes quickly and went out.

Leona handed Sierra her breakfast. Sierra took it, thanking Leona,

Did you stay up all night with Mr. Henderson?Leona asked casually.

Sierra blinked. What do you mean?

When I came in this morning, I saw Mr. Henderson walking out of the break room,Leona said, making small talk. He was holding his jacket, and his shirt didn’t look freshly changed. It was a little wrinkled.

Sierra paused, her breakfast halfway to her mouth. Her mind jumped to the scent she had smelled when she woke up.

Had he not gone home last night?

What’s wrong?Leona asked.

He probably just came in to check on things,Sierra answered, though her mood had shifted. I didn’t see him when I fell asleep and when I woke up.

Sierra found John to be a walking contradiction. On the surface, he treated her badly, yet he took care of her in secret. If he really wanted to be nice to her, why wouldn’t he let her go and give her the freedom she wanted?

Leona nodded. She didn’t say more about that and turned to the matter she cared more about. Did you finish your draft?

I did,Sierra replied.

After that brief exchange, they focused on eating breakfast. Once they were done, Sierra went to wash up. She kept splashing

cold water on her face.

After staying up most of the night, her head felt heavy, and she needed to clear it.

John was in the same state as Sierra, but he forced himself to stay sharp and work.

Why don’t you sleep a little longer? I can move your meetings to the afternoon,Robin said, knowing he had been up all night.

It’s fine,John said, as calm as ever with his usual cool expression. Afternoon comes with its own set of work.

Robin didn’t push him further after he said that.

For the rest of the day, Sierra buried herself in her own tasks. Meanwhile, John dealt with company matters. Both of them were tired in their own way, yet neither reached out to the other.

That afternoon, Sierra and Leona finished their shift early.

Sierra was exhausted and only wanted to get back to the hotel and lie down. She didn’t expect to run into John in the hotel elevator. When she saw that he had chosen not to take the private elevator for guests and had instead squeezed in with them, her expression turned distant.

Ding!

The eighteenth floor.

Leona and Sierra stepped out together. Leona walked out first, but John stopped Sierra by blocking her path.

What are you doing?Sierra met his eyes.

John glanced at Leona, who was keeping a hand on the elevator door to stop it from closing. Leona shrank a little and pulled her

hand back.

The doors shut, and the elevator continued up toward the nineteenth floor.

Sierra spoke first when he stayed silent.

I know you went to the break room last night, but I’m not going to change my mind. No matter how many things you do for me in secret, it won’t change my decision to leave you.

John looked at her with dark eyes, his expression unchanged.
