Before Lucas could even get angry, the two men had already dragged him into a car.

He hadn’t said a word yet when they started talking over him in a rush.

“Mr. Bell, stay calm. We work for Mr. Danny Henderson. He only yelled at you because he didn’t want Mr. John to notice anything. We’re taking you somewhere to lie low for a while,” Lance said. “To make sure no one around Mr. John can track you, you should keep your phone switched off for a while. Don’t worry, there will be food and drink prepared. You’ll be treated with respect. Any objections?”

Lucas thought it over once and believed them immediately. “No. Let’s go.”

“Alright,” Forde said with a nod.

Remembering all this now only made Lucas angrier. He had never imagined the whole thing was just John’s scam!

John walked in, his steps steady as he headed for a chair.

Gossip was the last thing John cared about. “Are you really my father–in–law?”

“I looked into what happened between you and Anna.” John did not bother to hide it. “I took samples from you and Sierra for a

DNA test. Guess what the result was.”

Lucas’s heart skipped a beat.

Very few people knew the truth about him and Anna. Even when Sierra asked him earlier, all she had was her own suspicion.

How had John found out?

“What do you want?” He didn’t want more people to know about this.

“Go to the police and confess that you and Danny plotted to hurt Sierra,” John expressed what he wanted directly.

Lucas refused without even giving it a thought.. “Impossible.”

What good could have come from him going there? Forget the fact that Danny wouldn’t let him go for a moment. He could forget about living with dignity after he was labelled as a man who schemed against his own daughter!

“This isn’t a discussion,” John raised his eyes at him. “If you won’t go, my lawyers will take you to court. By then, it’ll be more than just a simple detention.”
