Chapter 330
“Couldn’t it just have been a partnership that failed, and he ran off with the money?” Jubilee hadn’t expected Sierra to guess so accurately.
“You could’ve just said that,” Sierra said, mind still sharp. “There’s no need to keep hiding it if that’s the case.”
Jubilee pressed her hand on her temples.
Fine.
The kid had gotten too smart for her to simply dismiss.
“His name is Nathan Lynch. He was the only man your mom ever dated,” Jubilee finally said after thinking it over. “They were together for five years. In the end, he still betrayed her and married another woman.”
Sierra wasn’t surprised at all. “No wonder there’s always that sadness in his eyes when he looks at my mom.”
“Sadness, my foot!” Jubilee held a deep grudge against him. If not for him, Anna would never have left home. “He just realized the woman he married can’t compare to your mom, and he regrets it now. That’s all.”
As she listened, Sierra frowned slightly.
He didn’t look like that kind of man, but you could never really tell what someone was like inside.
“In short, stay as far away from him as you can,” Jubilee said, her disdain made clear. “A man like that doesn’t deserve to see Anna.”
Sierra agreed. “Alright.”
After that, the two of them switched to other topics.
Jubilee didn’t want Sierra digging too much into Anna’s past, and Sierra did not want to talk about John. They continued talking about their recent lives and anything else but those topics.
Just like that, they finished their meal. Then, they headed to the hospital together to see Anna. She would fully wake up soon, and Sierra wanted to be there when she did.
Before they even reached Anna’s room, they saw Nathan and his secretary walking toward it.
Sierra had just opened her mouth when Jubilee ran forward, grabbed his arm, and yanked him back the moment he stepped into the doorway of the ward. “What are you doing here?! This isn’t a place you should be!”
Nathan stopped.
When he saw who had pulled him, the coldness in his eyes faded. His voice was quiet. “I heard Anna was waking up. I came to see her.”
“Whether she wakes up or not is none of your business,” Sierra said as she walked over and stood with Jubilee in the doorway, blocking their way. “I already made myself very clear last time.”
Nathan’s eyes locked onto her face, unmoving, feelings hidden deep within his eyes. Seeing him like that, Jubilee’s heart tightened for no reason.
This man… Could he have figured out that Sierra was his daughter?
“I’m an old friend of your mother’s. If you don’t believe me, ask Jubilee,” Nathan said gently and patiently.
“She already told me about what you did to my mom,” Sierra said, her attitude distant. She looked at him the same way she would look at any stranger. “If there’s nothing else, please leave. You’re not welcome here.”
Nathan glanced at Jubilee, then tried to explain to Sierra. “She doesn’t know the full story. I can explain.”

“It’s fine,” Sierra refused.
His hand tightened slightly. “Do you hate me?”

“You must be joking, Mr. Lynch. I don’t even know you well enough to hate you,” Sierra said. There was no hint of any emotion in her voice. “I’m just a daughter trying to keep irrelevant people away from my mom, that’s all.”
