Chapter 331
Sierra stared at Jubilee in silence.
Since when did Jubilee become this timid?
“I’ll go out and talk to him. Make him give up on your mom,” Jubilee said, trying to save her dignity. “You go inside first.”
“Alright.” Sierra gave a brief answer and went into the room.
A few minutes later, Jubilee and Nathan were standing out in the hallway.
Jubilee looked at him with impatience. He intimidated her, and she didn’t want him saying too much in front of Sierra, so she had to compromise. “If you want to talk, make it quick.”
“Is Sierra the child Anna and I had?” Nathan asked, his eyes fixed on her as his presence bearing down on her.
“In your dreams!” Jubilee shot back without even thinking. She felt nothing but deep hatred and disgust for him. “Did you forget you were the one who sent Anna to the hospital to get rid of the baby? She almost died on the operating table!”
Nathan’s hand froze at his side.
The past surged up in his mind. For a moment, he seemed lost.
“Anna doesn’t want to see you,” Jubilee said, telling him to leave. “She didn’t want to see you before she’s in this state, and she won’t want it now. If you want her to faint from anger the second she wakes up, keep coming.”
“She looks a lot like me,” Nathan went on.
When Jubilee cursed someone, she never held back. “I look like your father, too! Do you want to call me your dad, then?”
Nathan’s expression darkened.
Jubilee swallowed, suddenly not feeling quite so bold anymore.
“I’m already running a paternity test with her,” Nathan said, his tone slow and even. He didn’t seem angry, and he came across as calm and smooth. “I’ll soon know if she’s my daughter.”
“Then you can wait.” Jubilee left after saying that.
As she walked farther away, the secretary at Nathan’s side leaned in and murmured, “From the way she reacted, Sierra’s probably not your daughter.”
Nathan’s eyes were dark. “Find a way to get a sample from Sierra. If you can’t get one, fake a sample and use it to test her.”
“Yes, sir,” the secretary answered.
Jubilee started to feel uneasy.
Anna didn’t want anything to do with Nathan anymore. She wanted even less for him to find out about the child.
With that thought in mind, Jubilee stopped and called John before going back into the ward. She told him she was back in Jade City and asked to meet him.
“I’m back in Jade City. Do you have time to meet me in an hour?”
Sierra knew nothing about any of this.
She was in the hospital ward, holding Anna’s hand and chatting away, not taking what had happened earlier to heart.
When Jubilee walked back in, Sierra just asked casually, “All finished?”

“Yeah,” Jubilee nodded.
“You seem a little scared of him,” Sierra said.
“Who would be scared of a scumbag like that?” Jubilee pulled over a chair and sat down, looking completely indifferent. “I just don’t want your mom hearing his voice and getting upset. She has never liked him.”
Sierra said nothing.
There had to be more to her mother’s identity. For now, Jubilee was clearly not ready to talk, so Sierra didn’t plan to ask.
“If he or anyone around him tries to get close to you later, stay away from them,” Jubilee said after thinking it over. “Don’t let them get near you, got that?”
Sierra nodded. “Got it.”
Jubilee wanted to tell her it wasn’t about keeping her distance emotionally, but about not letting them take any kind of biological sample from her. Still, she couldn’t spell it out too clearly. With the way Sierra’s mind was ticking now, she was very likely to figure it out.
The two of them stayed with Anna for a while.
After about an hour, Jubilee received a message from John on her phone.
[Top floor, office on the far right. Come up, and someone will bring you in.]
“I’m going to the restroom.” Jubilee stood up, keeping her expression calm. “Wait for me a bit.”
“Sure,” Sierra answered, still completely unaware of what was going on behind her back.
