Office on the far right, located on the top floor of the hospital.
Jubilee sat across from John. He set a cup of coffee down in front of her, his tone polite. “What did you want to talk about?”
“Wasn’t it you who came to me first?” It had been a long time since Jubilee had reminded him that she didn’t like him talking to her so formally.
“I want to know about Sierra’s mother,” John said. Beneath his calm demeanor was a lazy undertone. “I wonder if you would be willing to tell me.”
Jubilee lifted her eyebrow.
Why was everyone suddenly after Anna?
After thinking it over, she asked, “What do you already know?”
John’s dark eyes were unreadable. He thought of how Lucy had come back and done nothing but laze around, and a theory formed in his mind. “She’s a very skilled hacker. When she was young, she even took on a kid as her apprentice.”
Jubilee stared at him, stunned.
Had he dug that deep?
“Since you already know that much, you can find out the rest without me spelling it out for you.” Jubilee had never expected he would be a schemer, too. She didn’t notice this was a trap.
“I can figure it out,” John said slowly, “but since Anna has buried this so deep, she clearly doesn’t want anyone to know. I came to you mainly to ask if I should keep digging. I only found out she’s a hacker by accident.”
Lance stood nearby and silently thought about how his boss was the biggest liar in the world.
After thinking for a long moment, Jubilee said, “Anna will wake up before long. You can ask her then.”
“Then what about this?” John took out a test report and handed it to her, still testing her with every move. “Should I tell Sierra?”
“…What?” Puzzled, Jubilee took the report.
When she saw what was written on it, her eyes widened.
“Lucas Bell has treated Sierra very badly, and Nathan looks a lot like her. If you connect that with what has been happening lately and with Sierra’s birthday, you can pretty much guess what’s going on.”
John could see the questions in her eyes.
Jubilee pressed her hand on her forehead.
Did Nathan figure it out the same way?
“This is something only Anna can tell her.” Jubilee’s chest was heavy, especially after thinking about Nathan’s words from earlier. “Before that, I want you to help me with something.”
John stayed polite as he nodded. “Go ahead.”
“Nathan is also running a paternity test between him and Sierra. I want you to change his result, so he won’t find out.”
“He hasn’t done it.” John sounded completely sure.
“…What?” Jubilee told him what had happened earlier that day,
“He was bluffing,” John said. “My people have been watching his people the whole time. He never had a chance to get a sample

from Sierra.”
Jubilee paused, then quickly realized he was telling the truth.
“If nothing unexpected happens, he’ll bring you a fake test report after a while,” John went on. “As long as you don’t ge yourself away, he won’t know.”
“How do you know that?” Jubilee could not help asking
“In a way, Nathan and I are the same kind of person.” John handed the report to Lance to put away, his tone light and lay
Jubilee studied his face, trying to understand what he was thinking with a puzzled look. Then, a suspicion surfaced in her beat” You didn’t actually know Anna’s a hacker. You were just bluffing me earlier.”
“Yes,” John admitted without hesitation.
Jubilee started cursing him in her head despite staying quiet. Why was every single one of them such schemers?!
“I still have something to take care of with Sierra, so I’ll head out first.” John got up to his feet with his back straight. “If you ever need anything else, you can contact me anytime.”
Jubilee narrowed her eyes. She wouldn’t dare to look for him, not when he was such a schemer.
Unaware of what Jubilee was thinking, John walked out of the office. He still needed to explain to Sierra what had happened that morning
