“Much better,” Pamela answered them. She then walked over to Sierra’s desk with a bright, harmless smile, both hands resting on the table. “Sierra, why don’t you care about me at all? I was in the hospital this whole time, and you never came to see me. I’m feeling so hurt.”

Sierra gave her a sideways glance. Nothing can beat someone who was shameless enough.

“Stop acting so cold, alright? I was so unlucky, I even got hospitalized.” Pamela held Sierra’s hand, playing the part of a close friend having a little spat.

Pamela was sure Sierra was too reserved to talk about her, John, or anything between them in front of others. As long as she didn’t bring it up, Sierra’s coldness would only look rude in everyone

else’s eyes.

“Don’t touch me.” Sierra pulled her hand out of Pamela’s grasp and reached for the bottle of sanitizer at the side. “I think you’re dirty.”

Pamela’s expression froze.

They all hurried to calm the situation down.

“Ms. Sanders, did you already have breakfast? I have some cake here.”

“Sierra, what did you learn on the business trip? Are the experts at Henderson Group really as impressive as people say?”

As everyone tried to change the subject, Pamela took the hint and backed down, moving away from Sierra’s desk. Meanwhile, Sierra answered their questions with a few polite words since they were just trying to calm things down.

Before long, the rest of the staff arrived one after another. Each person gave Sierra an extra look when they saw her, but since there was a meeting that morning, no one said much.

For the entire day after that, everyone was clearly more courteous to Sierra than before.

Seeing this, Pamela dragged Cindy into the pantry. “What’s wrong with them? Why is everyone being so much more polite to Sierra than before? Did you tell them about her and John?”

People used to be nice to Sierra, but not beyond being colleagues. Today, most people were going out of their way to be nice.

“If I had told them, you would’ve been spat at by now,” Cindy said. She had heard about what happened during the trip from Fanny.

“How dare you talk to me like that? Believe it or not, I can have John throw you out of here!” Pamela was furious with her attitude.

“If you want to say that, say it to me in private,” Cindy said on purpose. “If you said it in front of our other colleagues, they’d think you’re being shameless.”
