“How’s the investigation into what happened to Tommy?” Sierra asked, pulling her hand out of John’s,

Two days ago, Tommy had heard his friends talking about how much fun Summer Camp was. He told them he wanted to go back, so John sent him back.

They had agreed he would find out the truth within three days. Several days had passed, and John still hadn’t said a word.

“Apparently, it was just something between the children. A boy became jealous when he saw Tommy was so popular and that he kept coming in first in every activity,” John said slowly.

“How did he know what Tommy is allergic to?” Sierra pressed.

The teacher had said Tommy got hurt because someone put something he was allergic to in his cup. To do that, he had to know about the allergy. Each child had a list of notes in the teacher’s hands.

“Someone at school tried to give Tommy snacks once. When he turned them down, he mentioned what he was allergic to,” John explained calmly. “That boy remembered.”

Sierra still felt something was wrong, but John’s expression didn’t look like he was lying.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. Tommy won’t get hurt for nothing.” John tried to calm her. “We can’t really hold a child legally responsible, but I’ll sit down and talk to the parents.”

Sierra still felt uneasy.

Ever since kindergarten, Tommy had always gotten along well with his classmates and the kids around him. Now, there was a classmate suddenly jealous enough to slip what he was allergic to into his drink?

“He should be having his free activity right now,” John said as he glanced at his watch. “You can call him.”

Sierra answered that she would and went to call Tommy.

“The reason?” he asked.

“He doesn’t know. They only told him to find a way to put something Tommy’s allergic to in his food. Not enough to kill him, just to create a crisis.” Robin told John everything he knew.

“The person who made the order told him about Tommy’s allergies?” John asked.

“Yes,” Robin said.

“What was the payment?” John asked.

“Prime real estate in a neighboring city that is being hotly bid on. He got it.”

John’s eyes were deep and still.

Whoever could get Tommy’s allergy information and help someone win prime real estate that many had their eyes on probably had the means and strong connections.

“Got it,” Robin replied.

John added a reminder, “Don’t mention any of this in front of Sierra.”

They still hadn’t figured out whether the perpetrator was targeting him or Sierra. If it were the latter, she had no energy to deal with it right now.
