Chapter 354
Sierra stayed with her mother the whole time. Even though Dr. Smith told her Anna wouldn’t fall into a coma again, she still felt
uneasy.
“Why are you crying when this is such a happy moment?” Jubilee came over and nudged Sierra with an elbow. She looked much calmer than Sierra.
Sierra kept her eyes on the closed exam room door, all kinds of emotions churning inside of her. “These are tears of joy.”
“Not tears of joy,” Jubilee said.
Sierra glanced at her.
Jubilee smiled. “This is you getting back what you lost.”
Sierra turned back to the door, as if she could see straight through it and see what was happening inside. She knew Jubilee was right. She was getting back what she had lost.
After a long while, Sierra turned to John, who had stayed beside her the whole time. “You should head back later. I’m staying at the hospital with my mom tonight.”
“It’s alright. I’ll stay with you,” John said.
“You don’t need to,” Sierra answered.
John didn’t argue, but his attitude alone made it clear he planned to stay.
Half an hour later, Anna finished all her exams and was wheeled back to the ward in a wheelchair. Once the doctors finished explaining, Sierra and the others walked over to her bedside.
Seeing her mother awake and looking at her with gentle eyes, the emotions Sierra had forced down slowly surged up again.
“Don’t…” Anna said,
Her voice was weak, the words barely clear.
But Sierra understood what came after that word. Her mother was telling her not to cry, that she was here.
Sierra rushed forward and wrapped her arms around her, pressing her face into Anna’s nape. Her voice shook as she called out, ”
Mom.”
Anna raised her hand and hugged her back.
Normally, someone who had been in a coma for years couldn’t raise an arm and return a hug right after waking up.
But the nurses had helped her move her joints and massaged her muscles every day for all these years. That was the only reason
this embrace was possible.
Watching them, Jubilee said, “If you had waited another two years to wake up, she would have made herself sick from missing you so much.”
Anna patted Sierra’s back, her eyes warm and bright with love.
At that moment, John spoke up. “Anna.”
Anna looked up at him, studying him for a moment. Even though she didn’t say a word, John felt a strange sense of guilt from her stare.
Guilt.
He didn’t understand why he felt that.

“Thank you.” Anna finally spoke after a long pause.
“We’re family. There’s no need to say that,” John said, his tone as sincere as ever. “I’ve already talked to the rehab department. Once your test results are ready, they’ll put together a detailed recovery plan for you.”
Anna’s speech was still not very smooth. “Alright.”
John glanced at Sierra, who was still clinging to her mother, and pressed his lips.
Knowing Sierra well enough, Jubilee used the quiet moment to speak to John. “We can stay here with Anna. You should go back and get some real rest.”
John was about to refuse when his phone rang.
It was Pamela.
