Chapter 365
For the first time, Holly felt she needed more brain cells to process what was happening in front of her.
Was this man, who bore such a strong resemblance to Sierra, truly Anna’s old friend?
“Let’s go,” Sierra said to Holly.
Holly nodded and followed.
Just before they reached Anna’s ward, Nathan caught up, his voice louder than before. “I just want to say two sentences to her. Once I’m done, I’ll leave. I won’t take up her time.”
Sierra frowned, but before she could refuse, Anna’s voice came from inside the room. “Let him in.”
Holly blinked.
She had a feeling Nathan was dragging his feet intentionally. He probably wanted to get to the door just in time, say those exact words, and make sure Anna overheard so she would let him in.
“Mom.” Sierra stepped into the ward.
“Anna!” Holly greeted her with a smile.
Anna’s eyes were full of warmth. “You’re here, Holly.”
Holly went to Anna’s bedside, nagged her a little, and asked how she had been since waking up. Anna answered each question and, in turn, asked about Holly’s life.
When Holly was just a kid, her parents were rarely at home, so she often brought Nicholas over to have fun with Sierra. After so many visits, Anna had become familiar with all three kids.
About five minutes later, their small talk came to an end.
All the while, Nathan stood by himself, about five steps from the bed, his eyes on Anna. He stayed quiet so as not to interrupt their chat, not daring to utter a peep.
Until…
Anna finally turned her eyes on him. “You have two sentences?”
Nathan paused, then understood she was speaking to him and opened his mouth. “Is Sierra the child you had with me?”
Holly stared, eyes wide.
What was going on?
“She is my child and mine alone.” Anna used one sentence to crush all his hopes.
“I know she is. The month she was born lines up exactly with the child we were supposed to have back then.” Nathan’s gaze was deep, fixed on her face. “You can’t fool me.”
Anna looked at him as if he were an idiot.
The next second, her voice was light and cool. “Your two sentences are up.”
Nathan frowned. “Anna.”
“You can get out now,” Anna said.
Nathan kept staring at her, his eyes filled with a storm of emotion.

Sensing the heavy atmosphere in the room, Holly cleared her throat and lowered her voice toward Sierra. “Should I step out for a bit and come back later?”
This was a huge bombshell, not exactly something someone like her outside of the family should be hearing.
“It’s fine,” Anna was the one who answered, and the second half of her sentence carried a clear meaning. “The one who should leave is him, not you.”
“Can we not talk calmly at least?” Nathan started and stopped, then decided to push on. “If you still hate what happened back then, you can do whatever you want to me. But don’t you want the child to have a father she can rely on?”
“Legally, my father is Lucas,” Sierra spoke up. “In my heart, my dad and mom are the same person.”
Lucas might be a mess. His crimes against Sierra were when he made her drink with his so–called friends and then hired a driver who attempted to murder her.
He had targeted Sierra, true.
Yet, when it came to her mom, he had honored the agreement they made at the start.
In other words, when it came to her mom, Lucas was better than Nathan.
At the very least, before Bell Group went bankrupt, Lucas had still kept a decent relationship with them. The man in front of her, who claimed to be her father, was the one who had wounded her mom deeply.
“As far as I’m concerned, we don’t share any relationship.” Sierra’s tone was ice cold. “If there’s nothing else, please leave.”
Nathan looked at Anna, waiting for her to change her mind.
“Sierra, call security.” Anna didn’t even spare him a glance. “There’s no need to waste words on someone like that.”
“Alright.” Sierra took out her phone and started to dial.
