Anna paused. “Do they look alike?”

She was too familiar with both of them to notice any resemblance.

Even if she couldn’t stand Nathan anymore, the years they had spent together had carved his face deep into her memory. Sierra had been with her all this time as well. Because of that, she had never paid attention to whether they looked alike or not.

“Very alike. Around seventy or eighty percent, if you ask me,” Holly said.

Holly had never seen Nathan before this, so the moment she saw him, she thought of Sierra.

Anna’s brows furrowed as she fell into deep thought.

Sierra picked up on the change in her expression. “What is it?”

Anna looked at her. “Do you want to acknowledge him as your father?”

Sierra froze.

So did Holly.

“Forget it,” Anna said again before Sierra could answer. “Everyone in that family is mad. If they take you back, you’ll be affected by them if you go back eventually. For your own mental health, we can forget about it for now.”

“Anna?” Holly hesitated.

“Yes?” Anna asked.

“I… I have a question that might be a little rude,” Holly said.

Anna saw straight through her. “You want to ask if people would call Sierra an illegitimate daughter if she went back to them?”

“Yes.”

Holly wasn’t surprised that Anna had guessed it right. Back when she used to come over to play with Sierra, she had already noticed how perceptive Anna was and how easily she saw through them.

“Nathan has no wife and no children,” Anna said with complete calm. “If he takes Sierra in as his legitimate daughter, no one will gossip about it.”

“How do you know that?” Sierra was curious. “He told me you haven’t seen each other in more than twenty years.”

“Jubilee told me,” Anna answered.

Sierra’s eyes lit up with understanding.
