Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 369

Chapter 369

I know you probably have issues with him,Lucy said, but if you acknowledge him, Sierra can have as much freedom as possible in the future.

Anything he can do, I can do better.Anna’s reply was quiet.

Lucy paused.

Anna no longer cared about what had happened back then, but not caring didn’t mean she had forgiven it.

Besides, he wants this more than we do. There’s no need for us to take the first step. If there’s going to be any acknowledgement, then he can show some real sincerity and ask us for it.

Not to mention, the choice was in their hands.

Why should a man who had only planted the seed, then crushed the first sprout under his heel, get to claim the daughter she had raised on her own with so much effort?

You’re right,Lucy said at last. But you still need to be careful. When John gets pushed to his limit, he becomes obsessive. No one can stop him in that state, and he might do things most people would never even think of.

Anna raised her eyes, a little surprised that someone who usually seemed so polite and modest would say this. She turned everything she wanted to say into a nod.

Alright.

Lucy told her a few more things, and Anna remembered every word. By the time they finished, ten minutes had passed..

Then, John sent Lucy a message that cut the visit short. [How long are you planning to stay down there?]

Lucy went quiet for a moment before putting her phone away, standing up, and saying goodbye. Anna could see Lucy had things

to do and didn’t try to keep her.

Neither Sierra nor Anna mentioned this conversation to the other.

Over the next few days, Sierra kept moving between Campanile Estate and the hospital as usual.

She went home partly to change clothes, but even more to keep John from getting suspicious.

They had only just had a serious talk a few days ago. If she suddenly started acting too differently, there was no telling what he might do if he felt cornered.

On Wednesday afternoon, after Anna was done with her rehab for the day, Sierra went back to Campanile Estate. She had picked this time on purpose, so she could take out their documents and everything else they needed to leave when John should have

been at work.

Granted greeted her as always. Welcome home, Ms. Bell.

Sierra nodded at him.

Mr. Henderson isn’t at home,Grant added.

I know. I just came back to grab a few things, she said.

Sierra went straight upstairs to the master bedroom. She opened the wardrobe, found the documents, and checked them one by one before slipping them into her bag.

She had just closed the bag and was about to leave when steady footsteps sounded behind her. A moment later, a low voice came from the doorway.

What are you doing?

Sierra’s whole body tightened.

Wasn’t he supposed to be out?

Just picking up a few things, she said, forcing herself to stay calm as she turned around to face him. Shouldn’t you be at work right now? Why did you come back?

I heard you left the hospital and came home,John said slowly. His gaze slid over the bag in her hand. I was worried you might need something, so I came back.

Sierra knew perfectly well he was doing it on purpose, spelling out that he knew exactly where she went and when.
