When Anna said that, she glanced at John. Then, she finished the rest of the sentence clearly.

“Give John back all the medical expenses he has paid for my medical bills these past few years. Our family is quite wealthy, so there’s no need to let people point fingers at us over that little bit.”

John fell silent.

His mother–in–law was holding onto this even more than Sierra.

“Add the interest in.” Once Anna got serious, even Sierra had to move aside. “So that if there’s conflict in the future, he won’t be able to use this against us.”

“Alright,” Sierra answered.

“You’re my mother–in–law, we’re a family. Paying for your treatment is part of my duty,” John insisted.

He knew Sierra’s personality took after Anna. No way was he getting back with Sierra if he couldn’t win Anna over.

“You twisted everything despite Sierra simply wanting to have a legal split of marital assets in a normal divorce,” Anna went on, her anger making her count every detail. “Let alone me, an outsider. I know my place.”

When she finished, she glanced at Sierra. “Is the transfer done, baby?”

Sierra looked at the screen on her phone. “It’s done.”

When Jubilee went to help Anna reissue her bank card, she had already submitted an application for a large transfer. That was why Sierra could send the money in an instant.

A deposit notification popped up on John’s phone. Staring at the amount, his brows furrowed.

“If there is nothing else, I won’t keep you here,” Anna said, her tone distant. “I still have some things to discuss with Sierra and Jubilee.”

“Then please rest well,” John said, not staying here.

Anna simply nodded.

John stood up, his gaze landing on the one person who hadn’t spoken up for him and had even helped with the transfer. His thin lips moved as he called to Sierra.

“You’re not going to walk me out?”

Sierra blinked. Couldn’t he walk out of the doorway on his own?

John stayed right where he was, making it obvious that if she didn’t walk him out, he wouldn’t leave.

“I’ll see him out,” Sierra said to Anna, knowing John was doing it on purpose. “Just chat with Jubilee for a while.”

“Sure.” Anna didn’t stop her.

The moment they stepped out, Jubilee looked at the door that had just closed and sighed. “If he dares to pressure Sierra like that right in front of you, who knows what he’ll do behind her back.”

Anna’s eyes darkened. She hadn’t expected John to become like this. When he and Sierra had first gotten together, she had held back her approval. She worried he was only interested in Sierra for a while, attracted by something new.

But what he did later showed Anna he really did love Sierra.

She finally relaxed.

“Where are you planning to take Sierra?” Jubilee asked. “Harbor City or somewhere else?”

The schools and job market in Harbor City were about the same as in Jade City. Both were top–tier big cities.

But Harbor City was where she had suffered thanks to that man, so she probably would not go back there.

Anna was silent for a moment. “I haven’t decided anything. Still thinking.”
