Anna froze for a moment when she saw the young woman’s face.
It looked so familiar…
Sierra nudged her arm. “Mom.”
Anna came back to herself. Her eyes looked at the small red mole on the woman’s earlobe, then she let her expression go smooth. “Have a seat.”
In the time that followed, Solomon and Tammy both asked about Anna’s condition. The whole time, Tammy was polite and composed, her conversation calm.
Once the small talk ended, Solomon’s gaze kept drifting to Sierra.
Sierra felt it and pointed it out directly. “Do you need something?”
A flicker of surprise crossed Tammy’s eyes. She hadn’t expected Sierra to be this direct.
“There is,” Solomon said.
“Then say it.” Sierra knew he hadn’t come today just to visit her mother. She and he were nowhere near that acquainted, especially since things between him and John were still so tense.
Solomon glanced at Anna. “Would it be convenient to talk outside?”
“Say it here.” Sierra had no intention of being alone with him. “There’s nothing my mom cannot listen to.”
“I want to talk about you and John,” Solomon said.
“Go ahead then,” Sierra said.
Solomon didn’t bother beating around the bush as well. “Are you planning to take Tommy and your mom and leave Jade City without telling John?”
Sierra’s head snapped up. Her eyes turned wary as she looked at him.
“Kenneth has been very active lately. It’s not hard to put everything together.” Solomon’s gaze was fixed on her. “I can help you leave without letting John notice or stop you.”
Sierra stared at him, suspicious. “What’s your motive?”
Solomon’s eyes gave nothing away. “To make sure you spare his life when the time comes.”
Sierra frowned. She had a guess. “Whose?”
“John Henderson.” Solomon used his whole name this time. “My younger brother.”
Sierra was completely baffled. She really could not imagine Solomon saying something like that. The last time they laid everything out, he already said he did not truly care about John, so why was he playing this card again now?
“There’s no trick behind it. It’s exactly what it sounds like.” Solomon could read what she was thinking straight off her face.
Sierra still didn’t believe him. A man like Solomon wasn’t what anyone would call soft–hearted.
Watching the exchange and thinking of the things Sierra had whispered at her bedside while she was in a coma, Anna made a clean decision. “Sierra, agree to it.”
“Mom, he’s not a good man,” Sierra blurted out.
Solomon fell silent.

Meanwhile, Tammy’s eyes widened slightly.
“He is still John’s older brother. It’s normal for a brother to care about his younger brother.” Anna shot Sierra a look, seeing through the twists and turns of these old money families at a glance. “You each get what you need. Just agree to it.”
Only then did Solomon really look at Anna. John’s mother–in–law wasn’t what he had pictured.
Sierra then asked, “All you want is for his life to be spared?”
Solomon’s gaze was open and calm. “Yes.”
Sierra glanced at her mother, then nodded. “Alright.”
Once the deal was made, Solomon and Tammy did not stay any longer. After a few more polite words, they left.
At the door, Tammy turned back and glanced at Sierra. There was a hint of envy in her eyes, but she hid it well.
“Tammy,” Solomon called.
Tammy’s tone lifted softly, her expression obedient. “Yes?”
Solomon’s eyes were no longer clear. They were just dark, so dark that no one could see through them. “Do you also want to disappear one day without a word like Sierra?”
“Of course not.” Tammy slipped her arm through his, her smile bright. “You treat me better than anyone in the world. I won’t leave even if you’re trying to drive me away.”
Solomon stared at the face that was full of lies.
She clearly despised him and wanted to get away, yet her mouth still said these things.
She really could say anything for money.
“It’s good that you know it,” He said as he pulled his thoughts back, his voice carrying a thin chill. “If you run, I’ll break your legs.”
