Chapter 377
After they left, Sierra closed the ward door and looked at Anna, puzzled.
“Why did you agree to Solomon’s request? He really isn’t a good person. He’s the kind who’ll do anything to get what he wants.”
“I know.” Anna could see very clearly how deep and calculating Solomon was.
“Then why did you…” Sierra started.
“It was just a deal,” Anna said.
Sierra thought it through.
Solomon would help them leave Jade City. In return, she would spare John’s life. She was already lucky John hadn’t taken her life. How was it ever going to come down to her sparing him?
“Forget what he said for a second.” Anna knew Sierra was stuck on the conditions of the deal. “Think carefully about his relationship with John.”
Sierra turned it over in her head and almost immediately reached a conclusion. “You mean he wants to shift John’s attention to me leaving, so he can grab full control of Henderson Group while he’s distracted?”
Anna nodded. “Yes.”
Once she understood that, everything clicked for Sierra, and her anxiety calmed. As long as he wasn’t scheming against her, that was enough.
How Solomon and John wanted to cross each other had nothing to do with her.
That night, John dropped by the hospital asking about Anna’s condition. Then, he brought up Solomon to Sierra.
Sierra only said he had come with a friend to visit her mom. She didn’t mention anything else.
“Just to visit?” John asked, doubt in his eyes.
Sierra’s expression stayed cool. “Yes.”
“Are you coming back to Campanile Estate tonight?” John didn’t keep pressing. He took Sierra’s hand right in front of Anna.
“I’m not.” Sierra calmly pulled her hand back, the refusal coming out at once. “Mom has rehab first thing in the morning. I
don’t want to run back and forth.”
“Tommy’s coming back tonight,” John said.
Sierra paused for a moment before frowning. “Wasn’t it tomorrow at noon?”
“I told him that his grandma woke up. He insisted I go pick him up tonight.” John raised his hand and glanced at his watch. ” Judging by the time, he’ll be here in a little over an hour.”
In the end, Sierra decided to go back.
She needed to talk to Tommy about leaving and needed to prepare him as well, asking him what he wanted. If he chose to leave with her, she had to quietly get everything in order. If he didn’t, the time she had with him would only grow shorter.
Once she really left Jade City, she wouldn’t be coming back any time soon. After that, they would only be able to have phone calls and video chats.
“I’m sleeping with Tommy tonight.” The first thing Sierra said after walking out of the hospital was that.

John saw right through her but did not call her out. “Alright.”
They got home quickly.
When an hour passed and Tommy still had not arrived, Sierra could not help worrying. “Didn’t you say he’d be home by now? Why isn’t he home yet?”
John called Tommy. He didn’t call the driver, because Grant was the one driving.
“Hello, Uncle John.” Tommy didn’t call him Dad anymore.
“Why aren’t you here yet?” John’s tone was calm, and he turned on the speaker. “Your mother has been waiting for you at home for quite a while.”
Tommy froze.
