“What’s wrong with that?” Kenneth asked Lucy, clearly confused about her statement. “Wanting double eyelid surgery or a little work on your features is pretty normal, isn’t it?”

“And she needs cash for that?” Lucy had spent a long time digging this up.

Kenneth asked, “How did you confirm she used that money for plastic surgery?”

“I checked the footage from the security camera from back then,” Lucy said calmly, without hiding anything. “The day after she withdrew the cash, she went back to the hospital and stayed inside for two or three hours before coming out. Most importantly, there’s no online record of any follow–up or second

consultation for her.”

She had burned through a lot of effort to track down those footages. Too much time had passed, so a lot of things were hard to find. But even if the official line was that records were only kept for two years, if you really wanted to look them up, you could still dig them out.

Kenneth rubbed his chin. “That’s a little strange…”

“Do you want to keep digging?” Lucy said. This was John’s private business, after all. When it came to getting close to the truth, it was better to let him decide. “The doctor’s information is in there.”

John’s voice was icy. “Who told you to investigate that?”

“No one.” Lucy’s tone stayed light, her whole manner lazy, almost nonchalant. “I was just bored and wandering around online.”

John passed the folder to Robin. “Go to Harbor City.”

“Alright,” Robin said.

Lucy raised her eyebrow. So, he was not going to investigate it?

“You’re not going to say anything?” Kenneth hurried up to walk out beside him. “You’re really not going to look into what happened with Pamela?”

“No need,” John said. (1)

Whatever Pamela did had nothing to do with him.

Better to sort out Sierra first.

He dragged Lucy along and shoved her into the car. If something really did happen in Harbor City, she would be far more useful than he was.

Meanwhile, on Sierra’s side.

She, Anna, and Tommy went online and picked out three housekeepers from domestic service companies and two bodyguards from security firms. They asked them to come over the next afternoon to give it a try, and if they were suitable, they would be allowed to stay in a building rented for them next door to live in.

Only after they finished choosing did she go get her fully charged phone. Seeing several missed calls from John, she frowned slightly.

After thinking it over, she did not call back.

That night after dinner, Sierra took Tommy out for a walk. Once they had walked off their meal, she bathed him.

While he was in the bath, Anna came to find Sierra and chatted with her for a while. “If John comes looking for you and you feel like you can’t handle it, just stall him and wait for me to come back and deal

with it.”

Sierra agreed. “Alright.”

Seeing her expression, Anna asked, “Something on your mind?”

“He called me several times around five or six in the afternoon.” Sierra herself was not sure what she

was feeling. “Most likely, he went home and saw the house locked up with no one there.”

Anna rubbed her head. “No matter what he says to you or what he does later, be firm with your determination right now.”

“Of course.” Sierra nodded.

“If he really lays a hand on Holly and Nicholas or the others, let me handle everything.” Anna had money and skills, and she did not take those kinds of threats seriously at all. “You must not waver.”

Sierra stayed obedient from beginning to end. “Alright.”

Anna hugged her.

That night, Sierra did not sleep well.
