Chapter 399
“You want me to agree to that?” John’s expression returned to calm as he continued to confront Sierra.
Sierra opened her mouth, but before she could speak, he completed his sentence.
“Over my dead body.”
Her heart skipped a beat. The dream she had last night was overlapping with the man in front of her.
The next second, John suddenly moved toward her.
She raised the fruit knite and warned him, “Stop!”
John did not listen. The moment she raised the blade across her own neck, he caught her wrist as fast as he could and yanked the knife toward himself. Even so, the sharp edge still skimmed her skin and lett a thin cut on her throat.
John’s chest heaved as he stared at the red line on Sierra’s neck. If he had been even a little slower, would she really have slit her own throat right in front of him?
“You can stop me once, but you can’t stop me a second or third time,” Sierra said. She couldn’t pull free as John held her hand tightly. “If you insist on dragging me back by force, I’ll leave even if it kills me!”
This time, John said nothing. His hand clamped around her wrist, while his other hand was shaking a little. Looking into the disgust in her eyes, he felt something stab through his chest.
Only after a long time did he finally say, “You really don’t want to go back with me that much?”
Sierra’s gaze was tirmer than ever. “Yes.”
John asked in the same quiet tone, “You hate me that much?”
“Yes,” Sierra answered,
“Hate me so much that if I died, you wouldn’t care at all?” John asked.
Sierra froze.
She hated him, but not to the point of wanting him to die…
ed forward
Before the thought could settle, the hand he was holding, suddenly jerked forward,
Spurt!
The tip of the knife punched through his white shirt and into the flesh underneath. In an instant, bright blood spread across the fabric.
Sierra’s eyes narrowed as her whole hand went limp.
“I told you, if I let you go, it’d have to be over my dead body,” John said.
He still kept her hand pressed forward, the knife buried in his chest, and the way he looked at her was the same as always, never changing
Sierra’s voice shook badly. “Are you out of your mind?”
She tried to press on his wound to stop the blood from flowing, but the blood was pouring out so fast she could not stop it at all.
John still held her hand “If I don’t die this time, will you go back with me after I recover?”
“Robin!” Sierra ignored his words completely, her voice raw as she shouted toward the door. “Call an ambulance!”

Robin kicked the door open. The sight of the knife sticking out of John’s chest hit him like a hammer. “Sir!”
When did things get so bad?!
“You still haven’t answered me,” John said. He still hadn’t let go of her hand, her fingers wrapped around the knife handle
under his.
Robin took one quick look, forced his emotions down, and started moving. He sealed off the hotel, called the manager to bring up the in–house medical staff, then contacted the hospital.
Only after he had set everything up did he look back and see the two of them still locked in place.
These two bull–headed…
“No,” Sierra forced herself to be brutal, but her chest felt tight and aching.
“You’re so heartless,” John said. He wanted to lift his free hand and set it against her face. His eyes were still full of tenderness, but his voice grew weaker. “Aren’t you afraid this is the last thing I ever say to you?”
A sharp pain speared through Sierra’s chest.
How could she not?
No matter how much she hated him now, she didn’t want him dead. In the past, he really had been very, very good to her.
“Robin, are the doctors here yet?” Sierra asked, voice shaking.
“They’re almost here.” It was the first time Robin had ever seen something like this. He only stayed steady because he had
nerves of steel.
As soon as he finished speaking, around four people in white coats appeared at the door.
The moment he saw them, John finally released Sierra’s hand. Enduring the tearing pain in his chest, he wiped every trace of
the knife that would link to Sierra.
He had done this to himself, but there was no guarantee someone with bad intentions would not try to use it against her.
“Mr. Henderson!” The doctor caught sight of the knife sticking straight out of his chest, almost too stunned to speak. “You… Please lie down now! We need to stop the bleeding immediately!”
