Chapter 400

People rushed back and forth around John and Sierra.

Someone was working on stopping the bleeding on John’s chest while someone else checked his blood pressure and heart rate.

To Sierra, every sound near her ears grew fainter.

Other than John, every figure in her sight started to blur.

“Ms. Bell.”

“Ms. Bell?”

Robin called her several times.

Sierra came back to herself and realized that at some point, her hands and feet had gone cold. Both of her hands were shaking.

“My boss is in a critical condition, and he has to go to the hospital right away,” Robin told her quietly. “I’ll have Forde take you back. Once he’s a little more stable, I’ll contact you again.”

Sierra’s voice was very soft. “Alright…”

Robin saw how pale she was. “Are you alright?”

Sierra opened her mouth. Her lips were dry, and her eyes were fixed on the man surrounded by a small crowd. It took effort to get the words out. “Is he…going to die?”

“We don’t know yet. That stab went pretty deep.” Robin saw the doctors already carrying John out of the room on a stretcher. ” But don’t worry too much. He’s very strong.”

Sierra didn’t know how she left the hotel. All she remembered was that when John was carried past her, his face was as white as paper. When he saw her, he could see his lips move.

She didn’t hear a sound, but she understood what he said.

“Don’t be afraid.”

Sierra had always known John did things differently from most people, but she had never thought he would go to such extremes.

“Sierra!” Kenneth called out to her loudly, and Sierra instinctively stopped.

Before she could turn around, Forde, who had rushed over from Jade City early that morning, stepped in front of her and blocked Kenneth. “The boss said no unrelated people are allowed near Ms. Bell.”

“Move. I have something to say to her,” Kenneth snapped.

He had barely woken up when Robin’s message scared him half to death. He had just taken one nap, and these two had already moved on to knives!

Forde did not budge. “I can’t.”

Sierra’s feelings were a storm inside. Looking at the tall figure standing in front of her, it felt as if something had struck her heart.

People always said the way those around him treated her reflected how he felt about her. Now, with John on his way to the hospital, Forde was still obeying his order to the letter and shielding her.

While that knife wasn’t her fault, no one else would know.

“Go ahead,” Sierra said at last, her voice lifeless. “I’m listening.”

“Don’t… Don’t take this to heart. Ever since what happened back then, John has been constantly putting pressure on him Kenneth said as he looked at Sierra. “Something probably shorted out in his head this time, and he started acting crazy.”

Sierra stayed silent.

“When you get back, just rest. If anyone asks about this, act like you don’t know anything about this,” Kenneth reminded her. Seeing how out of it she was, he couldn’t help sighing inwardly.

“Alright,” Sierra said.

Kenneth turned to Forde. “Get her home safe.”

“Even my boss’s friend can’t order me around,” Forde said calmly.

Kenneth stared at Forde hard. “What?”

What was that even supposed to mean?

Forde still took Sierra away. Watching the car driving away, the relaxed look faded from Kenneth’s face, and only wariness remained in his eyes.
