Chapter 405
“Why is he coming to see you?”
Kenneth was completely lost when John said he was expecting Joey to come see him.
“You two don’t have any overlapping interests and have always stayed out of each other’s way.”
“He was behind Mr. Tommy’s allergy before,” Robin explained.
Kenneth froze before swearing under his breath. “Is he out of his mind?”
The two families never had any dealings with each other, and they had barely even laid eyes on each other at parties. There was no sensible reason for Joey to pull something like that.
After hearing about the incident, Kenneth had taken a dislike to Joey. “So how are you planning to deal with him? Do you want me to help you?”
John pressed his lips. “We’ll talk when he gets here. No rush.”
“Is the anesthetic wearing off, and it’s starting to hurt now?” Kenneth asked.
John did not answer. Instead, his eyes turned to Robin. “She still hasn’t replied?”
Kenneth went quiet.
Robin did, too. He glanced at the message thread that hadn’t changed at all and tried to soften the blow. “It’s noon. She might have finished lunch and is resting right now.”
“Rest? She just doesn’t feel like dealing with a madman like you.” Kenneth said, not giving John any more leeway, and no longer worried about hurting his feelings. “If she really cared whether you lived or died, there’s no way she would ignore you for this long.”
John’s eyes grew darker, but he said nothing.
“If you really missed her, I can go over and bring her here right now,” Kenneth said, unable to stand seeing John like this. “Or you can have Robin tell her your condition has gotten worse. See if she really does not care, or if she’s just pretending not to.”
“It’s fine,” John said.
Kenneth honestly did not understand him. “Then what was the point of stabbing yourself?”
John stayed silent.
Maybe his emotions had built up to the point where he had to drive that knife down, or maybe he wanted to give himself a reason to let her go. To give her time to think about their relationship, and give himself time to consider whether everything he had done lately was wrong.
“If you ask me, you might as well use it to get some sympathy out of her since you already stabbed yourself. Use this chance to apologize properly and admit you were wrong,” Kenneth said.
Personally, Kenneth didn’t want to see John living like a zombie.
John shot him a look.
“Aren’t you the one who’s always good at taking advantage of circumstances?” Kenneth said. “This is the perfect opportunity.”
“It’s fine,” John said.
What he wanted was to see her clear thoughts. A self–harming ploy was still a lie, and something built on lies wouldn’t last.
Kenneth was speechless.

Over the next two days, Sierra still didn’t reply to Robin’s messages.
John went from waiting at first to finally realizing Sierra was more ruthless than he had imagined.
As for Sierra…
When Anna came home that afternoon on the day John was injured, she told Sierra there was still hope for a divorce and asked her to go over everything in detail with her friend, Louisa White.
Sierra hesitated at first, wondering if she should wait until John was a little better before bringing it up. She was afraid it would
be too much for him.
But then, she gave it a thought. If he could stay calm even when she told him she wouldn’t go back, then there probably wasn’t much that could really shake him anymore.
Sierra went to talk with Louisa and gave a brief account of the issues between them.
After listening, Louisa told her to talk to John again. If he still refused to divorce, then they would file a lawsuit, and she told Sierra to collect as much evidence as she could while they talked.
