For a moment, Cyrus’s expression went blank. But before he could answer, Sierra spoke again.
“Or was it that, aside from that chairman from the Lynch family, the King family had a hand in it too?”
The butler at his side finally spoke up. “Mr. King has always regretted what happened.”
“And then what?” Sierra snapped.
Cyrus opened his mouth, but for a moment, it was clear he did not know how to answer.
Sierra was making sure that her displeasure was clear. She wanted to make sure they stayed away from
her and Anna from now on.
“Instead of putting on this fake regret, you might as well keep your distance like you have for the past twenty–odd years. I’d actually think a little better of you that way.”
She didn’t wait to see their reaction as she stood up and walked out.
Her anger was genuine. They had broken Anna back then, and now, a few light words about regret were supposed to wipe the slate clean?
Could regret turn back time? Could regret heal the wounds inflicted on Anna’s heart?
It could not.
“Ms. Sierra simply has a deep love for Ms. Anna. Please don’t dwell on it,” the butler tried to soothe Cyrus, who had been quiet after that.
“That temper is exactly the same as Anna’s when she was younger.” Cyrus let out a sigh, but his mood only grew heavier. “Tell me… Do you think I should apologize to her for what happened back then?”
The butler thought for a moment. “With Ms. Anna’s character, I’m afraid she wouldn’t accept it.”
Cyrus’s face stiffened with mixed feelings. “You’re right. That girl of mine is as stubborn as a mule.”
The butler tried to make the atmosphere lighter. “So are you.”
“True. Both of them take after me,” Cyrus admitted without resistance. If anyone else had said it, he might have scolded them instead. “If I didn’t know she had been in a coma all these years, I probably would’ve stayed angry for a lifetime too.”
“Do you wish to go see her?” the butler suggested.
“Better not.” Cyrus watched Sierra’s figure through the glass window as she walked farther and farther away. “We’ll talk about it after some time has passed.”
“That’s fine too,” the butler said.
Cyrus got up and left the cafe. As he was getting into the car, something occurred to him, and he turned

his head slightly. “Where’s that brat Joey?”
“He said he was going upstairs to visit the CEO of Henderson Group,” the butler replied. “He told us not
to wait for him.”
At the same time in John’s ward, Robin was reporting what had happened downstairs.
“Ms. Bell has already left, and the King family didn’t send anyone to follow her. They probably just talked about some ordinary things.”
“Have Forde keep an eye on her, quietly.” John’s eyes darkened slightly. Things were just as volatile here as in Jade City. “If anything looks off, report to me right away.”
“Got it,” Robin said.
As soon as he finished, the door was pushed open, and a bodyguard stuck his head in. “Boss, there’s a
Joey King here to visit you.”
The air around John cooled. “Let him in.”
“Of course,” the bodyguard said as he opened the door fully.
A young man in his early twenties, bright and energetic, walked in. Seeing John in the hospital bed, he started first. “Should I call you my cousin–in–law and go with John? Or just Mr. Henderson?”
“I don’t have the habit of collecting random relatives,” John said, shutting it down in one line.
