Robin’s eyes opened wide.
That was a huge request!
“Fine.” John didn’t even blink.
To him, Pamela was nothing but trouble now. If he could use money to buy off that old debt, he would have happily paid that twenty million dollars. He would even pay two hundred million dollars.
“Second condition.” Pamela’s hands were covered with sweat. “I want you to promise that no matter what happens in the future, you’re not allowed to take this money back in any way, and you can’t come after me over it.”
John’s eyes settled on her. He didn’t say a word, but Pamela still felt as if he were seeing straight through her.
“Are you agreeing with them or not?” she pressed him, worried he would notice something was not right.
“I can agree with those conditions.” John lied to her to buy time. “But I don’t have that much cash on hand right now. You’ll have to wait a week.”
“Go borrow it.” Pamela didn’t want to wait.
Every extra day made it more dangerous for her.
Dr. Yates was being watched around the clock by Nicholas’s people, and she had no chance to get near him. If he suddenly woke up, there was no telling when he would reveal her secrets.
John shot Robin a look, then went on to Pamela. “I’m the CEO of Henderson Group. If I start borrowing money from others, they’ll think Henderson Group is in trouble.”
“Then borrow from your friend.” Pamela didn’t suspect a thing. All she could think about was taking the money and leaving.” Kenneth definitely has that amount lying somewhere. Call him.”
“Pamela.”
The moment John called her name, her whole body tightened, but she forced her face to stay calm.
John started talking slowly, as Robin was still busy with his phone. “Don’t you think you’re acting very strange right now?”
A cold shiver ran down Pamela’s spine. “What’s so strange about this?”
“I offered you so many terms in the past, and you didn’t want any of them. Now, you suddenly want money.”
John knew there was something behind this. Pamela was inherently selfish.
“What did you do?” he asked.
“I just don’t want to keep going back and forth about this,” Pamela said. She had prepared this excuse long ago. “And I don’t want people calling me a homewrecker.”
John’s stare was pressing on her. Just being looked at like that made Pamela feel extremely pressured, and she could barely hold
Unable to take the pressure, Pamela could only throw a tantrum. “Are you going to call him or not? I’m only interested in the money this time, so you should agree to it now! Otherwise, I’ll be all over you again like before, when I regret it later. You and Sierra won’t ever find happiness again!”
“Other than Kenneth, I’m not asking anyone else,” John said first.
Pamela did not doubt him. “Fine.”

John picked up his phone and dialed.
It rang four or five times before the other end picked up. The first words from Kenneth were already teasing him. “Didn’t you tell me to leave? Do you miss me already?”
Robin said nothing.
“Got any money?” John asked.
“…What kind of question is that? As the CEO of Gomez Group, how can I have no money?” Kenneth answered.
“Lend me twenty million,” John said, calm as ever.
“I don’t have any,” Kenneth shot back.
“I need it urgently,” John said.
“Who knows if you’re trying to expand some new business to steal my market?” Kenneth blurted out, sounding completely natural. “If you want money, I don’t have any. You can take my life, though.”
John’s gaze slid back to Pamela. “He won’t lend it.”
