None of that mattered.
Making money was all that mattered to her right now.
Sierra knew John was intentionally making things difficult for her after she received no replies after sending out all her resumes, so she shifted her priority to finding part–time work instead.
That afternoon, she had an interview for a one–on–one dance tutoring job. Even though she had been a full–time housewife after getting married, she had never given up dance or painting.
Sierra went to the address they had agreed on. It was a famous, wealthy district in Jade City. The parents here were known to hire private tutors for their children for one–on–one classes.
Sierra didn’t have to worry that the person who had contacted her would turn out to be John again.
That being said, while it was not John, the person she was going to see wasn’t that much different from John’s status.
Sierra stepped into a villa after being let in by a maid. When she saw the gentle, refined man in the garden playing with a little girl around four or five years old, her mind went blank.
“Solomon?”
What was Solomon Handerson doing here?
“You’re here. Come in.” Solomon’s handsome face carried a soft smile as he greeted her.
Sierra’s nerves tightened as she gave a stiff nod.
Solomon handed the girl to the maid, then walked inside with her. He wore a light gray suit and silver–rimmed glasses today, looking like a mild, scholarly gentleman.
But Sierra knew better.
The softer he looked on the surface, the more ruthless his methods were behind the scenes.
“Sit.” Solomon entered the living room and stood in front of the sofa. Once she sat, he asked, “What would you like to drink? Juice? I remember you liked fresh juice at home.”
Sierra’s whole body felt tense. “Anything is fine.”
He immediately told the staff to prepare the drink.
A brief silence followed.
Sierra held her breath and took the initiative to break the heavy silence. “Is it your daughter who needs a dance tutor?”
“No. That is my friend Eagon’s daughter. Second son of the Lane family,” Solomon said. His voice was gentle and easy on the ears. “He had to leave for something urgent and asked me to interview the dance tutor.”
“I see.” Sierra nodded.
So that was it. It made more sense. Solomon was never married. How could he have a daughter?
Solomon’s eye fell to her fingers, which were wriggling from nervousness. He smiled slightly and said half jokingly, “Look at you. You seem very nervous.”
Sierra gave an awkward smile.
She wasn’t nervous.

She was simply afraid.
“With your skills, you won’t have any problem teaching his daughter.” Solomon’s tone stayed gentle and calm. “I’ll tell Eagon later. You don’t have to worry about that.”
Her heart continued to pound and hadn’t fully settled. “Thank you, then.”
“I heard about what happened between you and John.” Solomon brought the matter up on his own. “He went too far this time. If there’s anything you need help with, just let me know.”
“Thank you.”
Sierra answered only when she had to, unable to take initiative at all.
Solomon then reached into his jacket and took out a debit card, holding it out to her between his long, slender fingers.
“Take this. There’s not much in it, but it should help with how urgent you need money right now.”
“No.” Sierra refused without even thinking.
If she took John’s money, she would be humiliated at worst. But if she took something from Solomon, she couldn’t predict the
