Sierra listened closely to everything that was said.
Anna took her back to the study and went straight to the point. “That twenty percent of the shares is yours. You don’t need to care about whatever they say.”
“Alright.” Sierra nodded.
At first, she had wondered whether it was really the right thing to do to buy back shares that had gone up more than a hundredfold over the past twenty years at the original price. But then, she figured there had to be a reason for the clause having been clearly written into the share purchase agreement.
They absolutely didn’t do it because they felt guilty about it. If they had a conscience in the first place, they never would have forced her mother to sell those shares.
Over the next half hour, Anna gave Sierra a rundown of what had happened with King Group earlier back in the days. However, she didn’t go into details about how her family treated her or how Cyrus had crossed the line. Instead, she focused everything on what had happened to the company.
Even so, Sierra still felt awful after hearing all of it.
“That’s about it,” That was all Anna could think of for now. “If I remember anything else important later, I’ll fill you in.”
“Mom…” Sierra had never known her gentle mother had been through so much.
Anna raised her eyebrow at Sierra.
This time, Sierra had truly made up her mind. “I’ll get everything back for you.”
Anna had saved the King Group. She had brought in all their partners. She earned those shares with her own abilities.
Yet, the King family used everything they knew to force her to give up on the shares just because she was a woman, as well as rumors and stories that outsiders had made up.
They really were rotten.
“I believe you.” Anna truly trusted Sierra.
Meanwhile, downstairs…
John looked at Nathan, who was still hanging around instead of leaving, and asked casually, “Still here, Mr. Lynch? Are you waiting for Sierra to ask you to stay for supper?”
“I’m waiting for you,” Nathan said.
John looked at him, confused.
Nathan glanced upstairs. “Given your relationship with Sierra, they probably won’t let you stay the night.”
“I’m not staying the night.” John admitted it openly, without the slightest embarrassment. “But I can still stay here a little longer than you do.”
Nathan simply stared at him.
How had this brat managed to win Sierra over?
John did not care about Nathan’s stare at all. He just sat there chatting with Tommy, asking whether the boy was getting used to living here and how Sierra had been doing.
Before they knew it, by the time Sierra and Anna came downstairs, it was already past eight.

When Sierra saw that Nathan was still sitting there, she asked bluntly, “Why are you still here?”
“I’m waiting for him.” Nathan looked at John, whose face was quite pale. It was obvious he was about to be thrown out, so Nathan decided to drag someone down with him. “The night is getting dark. It’s much safer for us to leave as a group.”
John was just about to speak when Sierra looked at him and said, “You should head back.”
He had come out before his body had even healed… He really did not care about his life.
“Let’s go, Mr. Henderson,” Nathan said as he stood up.
“Then I’ll take my leave as well,” John said without arguing. He reached out to pat Tommy’s head, but his eyes stayed on Sierra as he said, “Happy birthday.”
“Happy birthday to you, too,” Sierra answered.
John paused, and a trace of softness appeared in his eyes. He gave Tommy a hug, said goodbye to Anna, and finally left.
Nathan left with John.
The difference in how they were treated was obvious. Anna didn’t spare Nathan even the slightest friendly look, and Sierra treated him like a stranger.
Outside the villa…
John got into his car.
The moment the door closed, his brows drew together on his already pale face. Anyone who really looked would’ve noticed he was hurting the whole time, so much that his lips were becoming pale.
