Chapter 446
‘Damn it!’
Kenneth glared at Nicholas.
“Guard the door,” Nicholas said to his bodyguards as he walked toward the room. “Don’t let anyone with bad intentions listen
in.”
The bodyguards answered in unison, “Yes, sir!”
Kenneth could only watch him go in and couldn’t do a thing about it. All he could do was talk to the doctor, but Nicholas had covered every medical expense for Dr. Yates from the moment he was admitted. Even the doctor didn’t have the courage to let anyone else in on his own.
Once Kenneth realized there was no chance here, he called John.
If Dr. Yates had been in a private hospital owned by Henderson Group, there would have been no information John could not get. Unfortunately, Nicholas had been careful this time.
“It might take a while before we find anything out,” Kenneth said, calling from a gazebo in the hospital’s garden. “Nicholas is keeping things tight. I’ll wait until he leaves, then go ask.”
John had already expected that. “Alright.”
Thinking about what Nicholas had said earlier, Kenneth hesitated, then said, “John.”
“Go ahead.” John was still at his computer, handling some company business.
Kenneth wanted to bring up how stubborn John was about keeping his promises, but he did not know how to say them when it was time to say those words. “Forget it. It’s nothing.”
That was John’s trauma. He had chosen to create that prison for himself. No matter what Kenneth said, it would not change anything. It would only drag John back into the past.
John did not press Kenneth, and he only said, “If anything comes up tomorrow afternoon or evening, contact Robin. I might not
be able to answer in time.”
“You’re going to the party?” Kenneth asked.
“Yeah,” John said.
Kenneth frowned slightly and reminded him, “Your injury still hasn’t healed properly yet.”
John said faintly, “It’s fine.”
Tomorrow’s party would be Sierra’s first battle in Harbor City. He had to see how it turned out.
If the gifts from Cyrus and Nathan were not enough to get people talking, he could adjust on the spot and make sure everyone there remembered her.
Since John had already said that much, Kenneth did not try to talk him out of it. He knew nothing could change John’s mind.
By the time Kenneth made that call, Nicholas had already been talking to Dr. Yates for a while, although he had spent most of it thanking Nicholas for saving him.
“Pamela didn’t come to me to remove a scar or get cosmetic work done,” Dr. Yates said after they finished the basic questions and got to the point.
“Then what did she want?” Nicholas asked.
After thinking it over, Dr. Yates decided to tell the truth. “She asked me to make a scar on her body.”

Nicholas blinked.
Make a scar?

“She gave me a photo and asked me to recreate the exact same scar on her,” Dr. Yates said, his voice still weak. “After I asked a few questions, I did the procedure for her.”
Normally, he wouldn’t remember every patient who came to see him. However, Pamela’s request was just too strange.
“There should be a record every time a hospital equipment is used,” Nicholas said. “Did the hospital really agree to that?”
“It wasn’t done at the hospital,” Dr. Yates said slowly, finally telling the truth. “After she came a second time to confirm the plan and the risks, I picked a day off and did it for her somewhere else.”
Nicholas pressed, “What did the scar look like?”
No wonder. Common sense told him that no hospital would agree to put a scar on a patient. So that was what happened.
“It was four millimeters wide and eight centimeters long, on the outside of her right thigh,” Dr. Yates said. He remembered the measurements clearly. “The original scar looked like it was made by a cut.”
Nicholas frowned.
