Chapter 459
Holly’s mother, Hera, finally spoke. As the head of a publicly listed company, she was not as direct as Sierra in situations such as
this.
“She’s still young and speaks a little too bluntly, so please don’t take it too seriously. But what you said was indeed quite inappropriate,” she said.
“How was it inappropriate?”
“Everything we’ve said is true.”
“Back then, Anna used Nathan to help her get the shares from the King family while wrecking someone else’s relationship. Everyone knows that.”
“Why don’t we invite Nathan over and ask directly, then?” Hera’s tone stayed calm, but the threat in her words was obvious. Their expressions started to change at once.
Very few people actually knew what had happened between Anna and Nathan. All they had were gossip and rumors picked up from here and there. They didn’t know whether he had really cared about Anna.
If he had, why had he cut off contact so suddenly? If he had not, then why was he treating Sierra so well now?
“Whatever the case, it’s true that Anna was still involved with Nathan while he was already engaged to someone from the Quinn family.”
“That’s something I saw with my own eyes.”
“She was no saint either, getting pregnant before marriage and whatnot.”
“She probably wanted to use the child to marry Nathan and climb higher in the social game, but he did not fall for it.”
“Exactly!”
“It seems that intelligence really doesn’t come with age,” Holly snapped. She rarely lost her temper, but she couldn’t stay quiet anymore in order to protect her best friend. “You say nothing about Nathan cheating and not being able to control himself, but instead you pin all the blame on Anna.”
Hera glanced at Holly, but did not stop her. When it came to Holly wanting to defend her friend, Hera would never interfere.
“Is this your daughter? This is how you educate her?” Mr. Wilson stepped out of the group, displeasure written all over his face.
Hera glanced at him and answered with one calm word. “Yes.”
“We’re all elders here, and this is how she talks to us?” Mr. Wilson let out a cold snort and dragged Sierra into the mess too. “I suppose I can’t expect more from Anna King’s daughter. She’s just as uneducated as her.”
Sierra’s hands clenched into fists, but Hera spoke first before she could say anything.
With a rare determination on her face, Hera said, “After everything you just said, they’ll still be doing the right thing even if they splash you with glasses of water.”
“You…” The group fumed.
“Sierra, Holly.” Hera turned to them, her voice gentle.
Both of them looked at her.
Hera glanced at the glasses of wine on the table beside them. “The wine is right there. Splash it at them however you like. Let me handle the aftermath.”

“Don’t push things too far, Hera Isley!”
“This is Harbor City, not Jade City!”
“I can make your life here miserable to the point of being unlivable with one word!!”
Splash!
Holly and Sierra splashed the wine at them together.
Mr. Wilson’s hand trembled as he pointed at Sierra, as if he had never imagined they would really dare to do it.
“Before I came to the party, my mom told me that if I ran into people talking behind her back, I don’t need to waste my time on them.” Sierra’s voice was icy. “She said they were all people she had already beaten, so the only way they could feel important was by running her reputation since they couldn’t beat her in business.”
“You…” Mr. Wilson and the others were furious.
“And I think what she said made sense,” Sierra said as she picked up another glass. “You won’t learn your place unless someone puts you in it.”
“Say that again?!” The group was completely enraged now.
Sierra was surrounded by an aura of coldness. “I can say it ten more times, and it will still be the same.”
“You’re only being this fearless because Cyrus and Nathan are backing you up.” Their tone changed. “Let me tell you something. The Lynch family will never officially acknowledge a girl like you. Daniel Lynch will never let Anna’s daughter return into his family!”
Sierra looked at him without a flicker of emotion. Everything he accused her of was the very thing she cared about the least.
“Who are you calling an illegitimate daughter?”
A cold voice cut through the crowd.
Nathan walked toward them, his expression stormy.
